Made my first visit to Overflow Taps new location in Barkely Village yesterday. Nice enough space for what's basically a storefront in a generic shopping center. 10 taps of beer, some local, some regional, some national, and 4 taps of cider. Nice selection of rotating taps. I had a pint of the first keg from the new Illuminati Brewing's first beer, Freethinker Pale. Decent enough, a bit sweeter than I like, but enjoyable. Illuminati makes, by my count, the 11th brewery running in town (I count the 2 Kulshans as 1 brewery, and Melvin is yet to brew here).

Still no solid word on the new Sunnyland neighborhood brewery.

A certain well-established Bellingham brewery is in the process of rolling out a beer delivery service. It's in the soft, behind-the-scenes testing mode right now, to work out the kinks in the computer aspects, but it should be going live within a couple weeks. Folks will be able to go to the breweries website, and choose beer, and food, for home delivery. Will post details when it goes live.

Just in case anybody is wondering why I don't watch on-line beer reviews, this was pointed in my direction today:

As of Thursday October 19, you will be able to get Boundary Bay beer delivered to your home (or hotel) in Bellingham. Hours will be 11a-11p Thur-Sat, and Sunday 11a-8p. Anything from a sixer to a keg. The test runs (for Friends of the Brewery and employees) started yesterday, so by the time it goes live, most of the kinks should be worked out.

I'll be very curious to see how this works out for them.

The only place I've seen anything remotely similar to this idea, was in Cairns, Australia many years ago. When I was there 20 years ago, there was a local store that had a "dial a drink" service, and they would deliver to any place in town during normal business hours. I think you had to order at least $20 worth of alcohol to take advantage of the service, and I think they guaranteed delivery within an hour of submitting your order. The employee I spoke to told me the owner was very satisfied with the success of the program, as he felt it had increased sales significantly.

I always liked the old San Juan Brewing/Front Street Ale House in Friday Harbor. They were making beers with "experimental" ingredients 17 years ago, when I moved here. Their standard lineup was always solid too.

Stopped in to Aslan a couple nights ago, and they had a some interesting brews on. They've still got Alligator Suitcase, an ImpIPA, which is very nice, and I enjoyed a glass of a new sour, Piranha Bath. They're hoping to have their new space open by the end of November. That'll be their barrel room, and a 21+ space that's a bit more chill than the main taproom. Curated bottles, and some out of market drafts.

subtle. it's shocking how corporate that one line makes the entirety of that web-site read. for what it's worth, i think it's weird we are buying/selling/promoting/producing/etc blogs and internet content.

that said, jackie dodd is great. she kind of nailed your city.

And, how many folks mighta read the piece but not the fine print? Plus, was this published to perhaps help perceived value, of a certain property?
