A decent brew but slightly over-priced.

 

I've had several of these as I soak up the Andalusian sun today:

The wife was out last night and knows I like Maplewood son of juice so she grabbed me a four packer. I crack one open last night pour it into a glass an notice some white floaters in it, first time I saw those in son of juice but what ever not a big deal. Take a wiff and the smell I was expecting was not there odd didn’t smell nearly as juicy as I anticipated. I take drink and while it was ok it was nothing like the last one I had a few weeks back. I go back to the can and look at the bottom and it was canned 8/14/17.

I am going to have to make sure she and I both religiously check the canned on dates from now on. Which means she probably won’t buy me beer very often anymore lol.

Good Morning BA
A couple of barleywine threads lately got me in the mood to break this one out.


I'm very glad I have four more of these in the cellar fridge. Outstanding and it will grow more to my taste over years. Hope I can stay out of them! Enjoy what's in your glass today BA!

 

A new Pils on the shelf, woo hoo . . .





Light yellow color with white cap.

Aroma of bright, spicy hops with a bready undertone.

Taste on entry is hop forward with a limited malt presence. Indeed, you have to search for the malt as it's light shines rather dimly. Disappointing actually, like a promising young athlete who turns out to be too clumsy to make it at the college level. The malt part seems about right but is so overshadowed by hop bitterness it's presence is diminished.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Cut the IBU back to about 30 this beer would be in the ballpark. As currently constructed this is an IPL masquerading as a Pilsner.

 

Ice on the bird bath the last two mornings.
Today is clean the gutters and chimney day.
Even the flowers on the covered porch won't last much longer now.
