I am sure there is a thread about this in the news forum, but wanted to post here as well. Plenty of TX breweries winning. Freetail, Real Ale, Oasis, Austin Beer Garden, Saint Arnold, and Holler all won medals. Saint Arnold also won for Mid Sized Brewing Company of the Year. Does anybody know if any Texas brewery has done that before? https://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/2017-GABF-Winners.pdf https://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/the-competition/winners/ Thoughts? Seems great to me. Saint Arnold is easily my favorite in Houston, and think it is great that Holler has won while being open for less than a year. They got bronze for ESB and that has been one of my favorites this year as well. Edit, I forgot Galveston Island. for a medal winner. I am sure I missed some others...
Congrats to all the Texas breweries. I can't say enough how far we have come locally in the last 10 years, Happy days.
I was shocked that Weedwhacker won. I've definitely enjoyed the beer but I've never once thought it was a good example of a "German Wheat Ale". I guess that GABF considers it something like a Kristalweizen.
