shush about the stouts... don't need the ipa crowd finding out about them too! haha

his stouts are great though, been waiting for the next one

my first trip up to troon last january i think it was, the stout is what made me raise my eyebrow.. sure the hoppy stuff was very good and great too but whatever the coconut bra thingy was is what i took home a growler of... following that each trip up i'd seek out the dark beers he put out... loved the collab with conclave too.. was a perfect meshing of their respective skills/beers

I'm not a huge fan of Troon's stouts. They are quite good flavor wise, but tend to lack body in my opinion.

Their most recent stout effort, Mental kaleidoscope, was my favorite so far though. And I thought it had better mouth feel and body than all of the "Sweating Through your _______" series.

That said, on the topic of Troon ipas. I'd be happy if they never use Eureka! hops again. Remind me of Summit and Columbus. Too much onion flavor and aroma for me. Did not like how the oniony dankness blended with the residual sweetness of lactose in Placebo Effect 2.

Posted by Brick Farm Tavern on their IG page hinting at a Troon release today. Not sure if it's a new crowler release or just draft.

Wow, delete my post #682. Troon has hit the right notes so far as thick viscous body with Carrion Luggage. If their stouts continue to be like this one, they will in my mind surpass some of my favorite yearly stout/porter stand bys. Hell, I enjoyed this more than this years Morning Bell.

    Well done Troon!

Does anyone happen to know if Carrion Luggage is still/was on tap at the tavern? I was thinking of heading there this evening, but I mostly want to try the new one.

the mental kaleidoscope was better then this years sunday brunch and Mexican sombrero was better then Mexican brunch

but i shouldn't be saying such things bc it'll make it harder for me and others to get the best dark beers coming out of nj... also if you are looking for amazing sours you don't have to go far down the road... sanctus is the best beer out of NJ this year... and it's still fucking sitting there
