Would you mind giving a few details on the beer to help us decide if we might want to try it as well? That's one of the main purposes of this thread, to help provide others with information about the beers. You could link to a review, as well. Cheers!

I've had oyster Stouts and Porters (and, maybe a Brown?) before, but when I saw this, my first reaction was "that's odd", but, after I bought it, and started thinking about it, it made sense. A Gose is salty to begin with, so it might just work. The husband/wife couple that run this brewery are awesomely nice folks, and they rebuilt a hundred year old barn on their property for their brewery. They are located about two miles from the oyster farm. Hmm, maybe this could count as a food item too?

Here's my mystery beer from @woemad for the NBS BIF

A- Deep brown-black color, vigorous pour making one finger of light tan head which dissipates quickly
S- Malt, coffee, biscuit, chocolate, hazelnut. Some cedar and alcohol as it warmed.
T- Chocolate, coffee, cola, cherry, mild hoppiness. Began sweet overall, finished bitter
    M- Little carbonation, light mouthfeel.
O- Tasty, refreshing dark beer. Not too heavy, very drinkable.

    My guess- milk stout
    And the reveal...

Irish stout! Not bad for my first blind guess.
    Thanks again, Fred!

Here's another one from @richj1970 's BIF box, in one of my all-time favorite substyles-
    [IMG]
    Yazoo Sue Smoked Porter

The aroma is really nice- sort of like Guinness Extra Stout with an added smoky twist. A bit more forceful, too. A really nice blend of espresso, smoke, toasty malt, dried figs and dried flowers. The palate carries a lot of the same flavors, also favoring the espresso and gentle smoke, but adds a wonderful creamy/chewy texture to the mix. Residual sweetness and bitterness are precisely in the Goldilox zone, and are unobtrusive unless you start to focus on them. The smoke really shows itself on the lengthy finish, yet still remains gentle throughout. I'm loving it- so well constructed with a harmonious blend of flavors and complexity where nothing is allowed to dominate for too long, and the focus really is on the feel more than anything else. Wow! I would drink this every day if I could. Solid A (4.5).

Huge thanks, Rich, a big home run!

I had two Gibb's 100 Monkeysphere IPAs this afternoon. This is beer as fresh as possible, newly canned, and just like Gibb's 100 Blind Man's Holiday (Greensboro Pale Ale), has a crazy two-tiered moniker that is just funny. Anyway, I had the first one straight from the can, very fruity and dry, soft and smooth with rich malts never being sweet at all. As good a canned beer as I have ever drunk! So, later I pour one in my trusty old Foothills flutish-looking vessel, tossing off a big meringuey head, semi-permanent, bouncy and lovely. Damn, it didn't taste hazy from the can, but I should've known. It was like tropical fruits fermented dry with malt leavening the way to a seamless brew.

Last one, it almost embarrasses me that I’ve not had this yet, given my affinity for Belgian beers.

Pour is a slightly cloudy golden orange color, light tan head. Aromas are estery Belgian greatness and earthy hops.

The taste is split between the earthy hops and the esters from the yeast. The label states this was bottled in December 2016, and is good through December 2021. I’d like to try a bottle of this with 5 years of whiskers on it, because I think it would be phenomenal.

I literally thought I was drinking a michelada inspired Gose with lemon. I let my wife take the label off. Her reaction was:"your beer friends must be a strange bunch. If I drank that I would vomit."

    She don't get it, haha!

    Evenin' NBSers :beers::slight_smile:
Got home from a semi-long day landscraping, put my NBS candidate in the fridge, pulled out a warm-up ('cause Iwas already quite warm. :stuck_out_tongue:)started cooking, & turned on football. As things got simmering I go to the FaceBorg , & .....:astonished: the brewery up the road (walking distance - :beers:!!!) is having a "soft opening" this evening.

Everything on hold (of course!) , & off I go.
Had a flight of the four beers available now.
In order of (slight)preference - all good.
    1)PCPA - 5.8% Citra-hopped(from Dad/Father-In-Law's farm) Pale Ale
    2)Coffee Brown - <that's what it is. ; )
    3) Burner - IPA described as an East Coast/West Coast hybrid - complex, from different hops taking turns on the palate. Took a couple swallows to get used to it, but liked it thereafter.
    4) Tree Light - a light session ale , that probably would be the best intro beer for the Beer-Curious/AAL drinker. (Or me, on a hot summer day?) Seems like it would be quite refreshing , glass after glass.

Here it is , my take-home : PCPA (Port Crane Pale Ale)

Pours hazy orangey-amber (like cider, but a tad more orange), with long lasting white head(12min, & still going!) and lacing.)

Smells of pineapple juice and white grapefruit, with a touch of bread dough (yeast/malt) & tangerine.

Taste is similar to aroma, with the grapefruit rind being the most apparent flavor . Finishes with a touch of drying piney bitterness.

    Moderate body, with fine,creamy carbonation.

Overall, nothing earth-shattering, but quite good. I suspect that you'll be seeing a fair amount of me posting this on WBAYDN? .
Rating? (Maybe I'll wait to put it in the database, until they've had a few runs under their belts?)

I like it! This was fun to look back and think about the few BAs that I've met over the last few years. Mostly IP trades that turn into having a few brews. All great people that I wouldn't mind catching up with again(if the situation presents itself). I don't have a ton of local "beer friends" so I appreciate the hell out of this community and you all on here. Tons of support and some great personalities. We listen to each other's problems, share a few laughs, and talk about beer. Who has it better than us?!

New We're Brown Bagging it Sunday

Life got in the way today and after 12 hours of working I am trying to get caught up on the madness.

Great lead in @cjgiant. This subject is one that I ponder over often, and I have actually been planning a LIF with this interaction of Bas in mind. I have been lucky to meet several people on this site, and many fellow NBSers, including CJ, and @Prager62. I can't say how many folks I have met in person overall without missing someone, but probably around a dozen. And one of them, @SomethingClever, I consider to a good friend. Even if a bad influence who I spend way too much time and money with.

I would really like to share a beer with some more. Especially the BIF family. I/we have had a blast all 6 rounds of this @beertunes orchestrated chaos, but this current one really connected us all in many personal ways.

On to the mystery beer from my sender, @Wasatch

This one poured a heavier medium consistency, opaque burnt orange with a pretty minimal cream colored head.

It smells fairly hoppy with a spicy mango aroma. Also a carmalized sugar that is molasses like, and some dates/sour fruit on top of a significant malt base.

Definitely well hopped. It has a prickly, biting hop flavor with some mango, peach, and something lighter... maybe pear and/or pineapple. I also get some red apple with a little bit of a vinegary cider taste, then some darker, more sour fruit on the back end like dates, or grapes. Sweeter, carmalized malts with a brown sugar flavor. A solid bitterness follows everything.

There is some lingering oily resin, and the carbonation is fairly creamy. The body suggest that it is a 10-12% beer.

This one screams American Barleywine. I could buy a very heavy bodied, Imperial IPA because of the level of hopping and the fruits seem to be a little lighter/brighter overall, but it would score better as a BW for me. Let's see... [unwrapping process insues]

Well, I would have lost if it was a game of Roulette, but I was at least at the right table. It is 9.8%, so close there. 98 IBUs, which I can buy every one of. The aroma doesn't do much for me as an IPA, but it tastes better. I will probably end up somewhere around 3.50-3.75
Here's the rest of my haul

Now at home, I'm celebrating an on-time arrival and no lost luggage with another new beer. Always a good feeling when the bubble wrap in the suitcase is intact and the clothes are dry:sunglasses:.

This one is courtesy of @beerloserLI and it's a perfect way to close out the weekend:

A beautiful beer - very hazy yellow acorn color with a large and fluffy white head. The foam only reluctantly settled leaving a nice covering over the beer. Lots of tropical fruit on the nose: mainly papaya (seriously), tangerine, and pineapple. Not much in terms of malt of earthy aroma, but definitely not needed. Not surprisingly, juicy and fruity flavors were up front on the first taste. Mixed in were somewhat muted earthy and resiny notes and a nice bready malt backbone. This was bitter like an old school IPA, especially on the finish. Very clean and not harsh. A NE-style soft feel with moderate carbonation. Overall an outstanding beer - a bit of a hybrid IPA and extremely enjoyable. Thanks again BeerloserLI!

Here's a shot of the Chesapeake Bay last night.

Good afternoon and happy New Berliner Sunday! Thanks for the intro @cjgiant , and to answer the question, sort of. I've introduced several people to BA and they have joined, so...yes. Albeit, they suck at being advocates, as most have them have only made one post or review apiece in over the last couple of years. But, like you, I too might be sharing a pint or ten next weekend with a much more “contributive” Advocate . Aside from a couple of failed attempts to meet up with @JayORear (all my fault), that's about it.

And now, onto the beer. A gift from a very vibrant BA who I do hope to meet someday and paint the town red with (whatever the hell that means), @joe1510 .

    Sullers Past Brewing
    Maiden
    - Berliner Weissbier

A: Pours the brightest gold with a thin white bubbly head that recedes but for a few little spritzy patches on the surface.

A: Smells of the tartest green apples one can find, some champagne, and a little touch of sweet wheat.

T: A surprisingly less than expected tart apple is well complimented by cranberry like flavors and again, a good heft of wheat sweetness.

    F:
Tart, but not mouth puckering by any means. Light, and crisp, and well balanced.

O: Another wonderful Berliner courtesy of Joe. A no frills yet simply elegant brew. All I need is a fat tire bike tour and a nice little seat at the Schleusenkrug in Tiergarten, along with this bottle and the memories of the day, and I'm a happy man.

Thanks again Joe. Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon!
