Turns out the national holiday today is Dia de la Hispanidad, or National Spanish Day, commemorating the day that Columbus allegedly sighted the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492. Cheers from Estepona!

Only 4 ingredients were used, Vleteren water, German pilsner malt, Australian Galaxy Hops and Weihenstephan yeast. This lager not only bottom fermented, but also matured on its own bed of C02 for six months.

The last of my Summer brews from Southern Prohibition, canned in August . . .



Light hazy lemon yellow color with white cap and lacing.

My take on the aroma is a sharp, herbal scent that leans toward essential citrus oils.

Taste is sharply tart with a lemon-lime infused pear salad mix of flavors that I don't usually put together but are present here. It's interesting, it's good, it's Summery feeling and goes down easily. Brewer says it's dry hopped with Calypso and I suppose that's the source of these flavors.

Light texture with balancing carbonation.

A Summer wheat brew that I'm drinking at the end of lingering warm days bringing a pleasant coda to the season.

 

I'm going to sip on this beast of a beer as I pick up a thousand black walnuts and relocate them into the woods.

I spied these in a store for $31.99 a four pack and should probably buy one to cellar. Enjoy your day people!

I've always considered flavor one of a beer's more important attributes

 

Heaven, I'm in Heaven...The Irish owners of Siopa (Michael and Sara) have returned from 2 weeks holiday, and reopened their craft beer bar today. First up, Jakobsland Brewery, Galacia, Spain - "Fix For The Fits" an IIPA ringing in at 9%:



The artwork is cool:



Strong pine with citrus zest supported by semi sweet caramel malt. Columbus, mosaic, simcoe, citra and cascade hops. So west coast! I hardly remember a great piney IPA, and this brewery from the north of Spain is killing it.

Out of class and no work tonight, so hitting some studying and some 2K. Probably more of the latter knowing my studying habits...
