It tastes soooooooooooooo much better fresh. Almost like a different beer. Those of you that haven't tried it fresh. Grab a new 4 pack It's amazing. Cheers.

I concur that you should drink FBS fresh. I accidentally aged one once, and at a year the coffee had gained a green pepper taste, which can happen with coffee stouts. I don't buy FBS anymore, since trying Brasserie Dieu du Ciel! Péché Mortel.

Saw it today and almost bought it. But for 12 bucks a four pack, I'll pay 3 more and get even more coco jesus or inperial biscotti break from evil twin in 16 oz cans. Fbs is a good beer, but for the abv it's a little pricey to me.

I would feel the same ..,until u try it fresh. It is way better than the coco Jesus and the biscotti break combined. Swear to god. So damn delicious fresh.

I'll have to revisit it. Last time I had it I enjoyed it very much. Not sure how fresh it was though. I do enjoy a good stout, I've just been caught up in the high abv ones.

Same here. I passed on seeing it a couple times over. I just bought a 4 pack of vanilla World Wide Stout and a can of Speedway Stout this week. I can honestly say it rivals them fresh.

It's generally considered better than both of those.

I just picked up a 4 pack labeled at 12 bucks but it rang up at 10. Score!

I think it ages well, just drank a 15 a few weeks ago and it was dark chocolate delicious. Not as much coffee as fresh but easily as good just different. With that said I'd take fresh Speedway over FBS.

It's the coffee. I've had it at a year old and the coffee is non existent. When fresh there is a nice but not overwhelming coffee flavor that really takes it up a notch.

IMO all Imperial Stouts are better fresh.

When non-BA's ask what my favorite beer is I always say FBS (I think real BA's agree "favorite beer" (singular) is a weird term).
I had 4 bottles of Oatmeal Breakfast Stout from last year about a month ago and I still liked it a lot.
I agree with the freshness idea, but I do understand why other people like the changes that occur with aging cellarable beers.

It is definitely better fresh. KBS is better with a bit of age on it (like 4 months)

The ones with coffee and/or vanilla are better fresh. Plain old Imperial Stouts are great for aging. Especially the ones that are over-hopped.
