My wife and daughter are going to Connecticut next month for a few days, and has offered to pick up any local beers of interest. Are there any beers that you would recommend she grab while there? I do have 2 Roads available here in Delaware, but not much else. Thanks!

Look for any SingleCut ipas, Relic dipas, SOS, nummy nummy and headway. All good beers.

For the best selection, I would suggest they drive to DeCicco's in Brewster (10-15 minutes from Danbury). Should have a very solid selection of beers that you can't get in DE including Single Cut, Industrial Arts, potentially Lawson's, Finback and many others. Throw in Half Acre and Pipeworks, as well.

If sticking in Danbury, mterry00 has made some good suggestions. Some will be easier than others to find.

I should have mentioned Kent Falls beers also. Can get that in Danbury or at my previously mentioned DeCicco's over in Brewster (NY), as well.

Quick question.. does DeCicco's sell singles? I went to their website, but couldn't figure out that on my own. I'd prefer to have 1 or 2 of many, instead of 6 of a couple. We do plan a trip up north in the coming year, so whatever strikes my fancy will be purchased in quantity on the 2nd trip.

Thanks for the suggestions mterry00 and EDNOSE. I've seen a few of these names regularly here on the forum, and in a good way!

Yes, they do sell a large variety of singles, but not everything they have is sold as a single. Cheers!

And a lot of the beers they carry are sold in 4 packs. Won't save you money but does help spread the variety.

Try Anconas in Ridgefield, they carry some good stuff. Sometimes a little higher in price, but selection is good. They are right off route7

Good stuff there for sure. Most of the hyped beers are in back and you need to know to ask and then hope.

deciccos has a decent amount of singles. well worth the trip. best in the area by far. ny distro is way better, tho ct getting better. and they have crowler machines. kent falls is solid. ridgefield has a brewery opening, but not sure if in time for their trip. I'd also definately say tell them to take a trip over to oec. if you see anything you like online, most you can buy online and they'll hold it for I think up to the end of the year. it's like a buck fifty a bottle fee. alot of their releases except the ones that sell out day of that don't make it online even last few wks at the least, can even just send them if it isn't low and avoid that. it's 30ish depending where they're staying. give or take. but worth it. bakery is rad for them too on site when open and restaurant 121 nearby is a cool place to eat. tell them to hit stanziatos for food too, super unique.

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately, they pretty much have their weekend mapped out, so I'm glad they have offered to venture out to grab me a few brews.

An awesome and (lately) easy to find option for something Connecticut and reasonably priced would be Sea Hag. Conveniently dated on the holder as an added bonus, although it hasn't been in stock for too long, so it is all fresh.

I second most anything by Relic, my recent fave is The Plague Doctor. Hartbeat by Hanging Hills is solid. Sea Hag is good and easy to find. G-bot and Two Juicy have been around more recently, but likely have to ask at the counter. I enjoyed a Mutually Assured Destruction this week by Thimble Island if you like a strong stout.

Well, it's this coming weekend. Here is the list I have provided my wife:
    1. Lawsons - Sip of Sunshine / Double Sunshine - Super Session #2 or #8
    2. Singlecut - Weird & Gilly / 18 Watt / Eric / Workers / Half Stack / Heavy Boots
    3. Industrial Arts - Wrench / Safety Glasses / State of the Art
    4. Half Acre - Dungeons / Navaja / Now & Then / Moonset / Plane Wave / Gone Away / Lead Feather
    5. Relic - Midnight Muse / The Plague
    6. New England B.C. - Sea Hag / Fuzzy Baby Ducks
    7. Pipeworks - Dreamsicle / Close Encounter / Mint Truffle / Orange Truffle / Roll Out IPA / Lizard King
    8. Stubborn - Nummy Nummy
    9. Counter Weight - Headway / Wizard Fight / Void
    10. Equilibrium - Fluctuation / Fractal Citra / Perturbation Citra

I know some of these are a stretch.. but worth a try. I was thinking of giving DeCicco's a phone call on Friday and see if they might set me up a little, prior to their arriving. I'd even pay the bill if they requested.
    Thanks for the help!

Just to make the list a little easier, you can cross off Fuzzy Baby Ducks and Counter Weight's Wizard Fight and Void. They are brewery only beers.

Also, as far as CT distribution: no Double Sunshine, no Half Acre, no Equilibrium and I have only seen Close Encounter and Lizard King from Pipeworks. DeCicco's (or other NY shops) may have some of these.

Honestly, I would definitely just hit up DeCicco's on the way into town for Singlecut, Industrial Arts, Half Acre, and Pipeworks. They will have plenty of that and way easier than you'd find it in CT. I can't see DeCicco's doing any legwork for you though. The beer section is very user friendly. Your wife should be ok. Nearly everything is refrigerated there. Tell her to grab a cart and take a left once she gets in the store (they've recently moved the beer from the way back to the front left.

On the CT front, Lawson's isn't making #2 right now so just have her on the lookout for #8.

if you are willing to drive, stop at OEC brewing and Black Hog Brewing in Oxford (it is halfway between Danbury and Waterbury off of I84). both have bottles available.
