Good morning, all! I'm not in the habit of traveling with glassware  so I had to pick up something at the thrift store for Stein Club Sunday. This one was made in Germany, so it's legit. I mean, for $1.99, it damn well better be. At any rate, it pairs perfectly with this HB Oktoberfestbier.

    Prost!!

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Looking to be another nice day. Nothing planned for today other than my normal Sunday errands. Got NBS BIF stuff to review later on including a mystery beer.

    Beers this morning:

Not as hazy as last year, but just as amazing! Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with light honey, wheat, bready malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous hops in the mouthfeel. Crisp/drying finish and never astringent on bitterness. Amazing juicy, vibrant, and dank hop profile; refreshingly drinkable for an IPA. Mosaic and Equinox hops are my favorite of all time. They have been changing around the hops every year; but as long as those two stay, I don't care much.

Found a 2015 single randomly on the shelf yesterday. Haven't had the regular in a while, so I went for it. This is fantastic! Flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; lighter notes of coconut, molasses, and dark fruits. Very mild roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Amazing creamy, silky, velvety full-ish body. Minimal dryness. No warming alcohol or barrel booze at all. Dangerously smooth. I've always known this gets better with age, glad I was able to finally experience it for the first time in a very long while. Been too busy stocking up on the reserve variations. I bought a fresh one yesterday as well, will check out soon.

Incredible DIPA. Just as amazing as I remember from the first release. I preferred it more after I aged it for a year, from what I remember. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, and toasted oak sweetness; and floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/rind bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced bready/grainy creaminess, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Slight resins and increasing bitter/tannin dryness. No astringency. Minimal warming 12.4%. Perfectly balanced between DIPA and barrels. Never overly sweet or heavy. They really nailed it with this one. Glad I bought 2-3 4 packs. This will be neat to see develop over time as an IPA. The vanilla/toffee barrel notes and honeyed malt sweetness is already starting to intensify after 5 months.

Amazing imperial coffee stout! Glad we get the Mikkeller SD stuff now, the price is insanely more affordable. I paid $11 for a 330 ml bottle of the EU brewed one earlier in the year, the 4 pack of cans: $17. Flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roasted coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted oats, dark bread, marshmallow, and molasses; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, smoke, dark fruit, and herbal/woody hops. Light-moderate herbal/woody hop and roast malt/coffee bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a fantastic creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Lightly slick, sticky, chalky, and drying. Dangerously smooth, minimal warming 10.9%. This is definitely top tier stuff for a coffee stout. The civet coffee is very rich, intense, and fruity. Perfectly balanced with the base stout. Will definitely get another pack eventually.

Next to Neoanderhal, which I posted last week, this is the second one of the two brand new beers brewed by Against the Grain's new european offshoot in Germany for the european market.

It's a low gravity (4.8%) American Pale Ale with a hoppy character and noticeable bready malt undertones. There's also a slightly subdued citrus aroma to it, mainly orange rind, and a certain earthy/grainy bitterness.

Just noticed the six pack I picked up in Wisconsin was over a year old, so I wonder if it would be hotter when fresh. Perfectly flavored right now, however.

Great way to start the day . .

Hazy light gold color with solid white cap and lacing.

Aroma of homemade yeast bread with something slightly sweet and fruity like a ripe pear in the background.

Taste is a beautifully complex melange of flavors that to me match the aroma yet the whole is more complex and elegant. It took about half a glass to realize the ABV was 7.5% but that was in feel as there is no apparent alcohol in the flavor. Hops are just enough to provide a balancing bitterness and become a bit bolder by the finish and into the aftertaste.

Back from a nice 28 mile bike ride. Rode on the new (almost open) paved trail from Santos to the land bridge over I75. The Miss's was up at 0400 for work so I'm mopping the tile and hitting Publix soon. Sunshine City to start today. Have a great Sunday, get outside!

    Day off? Check.
Day at the pumpkin patch (weather permitting) with the Mrs' family? Check.
Second beer? After the first two, god yes, check!
Just wishing UPS was open so I could send the stuff behind my beer out to a fellow virtual bar brethren. Sorry, sir!

My two favorite Sunday titled songs (I know, no originality whatsoever, but I'm already on my second beer before 9:30, and I haven't done that for awhile). Cheers, advocates!
