I've seen threads like this in the main forum but thought it might be nice to have one specifically for our region. What are your go-to breweries or bars in the area with great scenery, surroundings or vibe when you just want to relax and have a few beers? It can be indoors or outdoors.

Suarez Family Brewing has a beautiful location that really does it for me. I could stare out the window for hours while drinking my way through their taplist. Doesn't hurt that the beer is some of the best around. Plan Bee is great too. Not exactly a taproom (although they are building one), but I love the no frills setup on their farm. Wish I lived closer to both.

Brick Farm Tavern in Hopewell is Troon’s de facto taproom and it’s tucked away in an awesomely bucolic area, as well. Beautiful drive. Cool, historic building. Great food, beer, and cocktails.

Greenpoint Beer and Ale is probably my favorite combination of beer, ambiance, food, and atmosphere in the city.

There is always a great ipa on (usually 2!), as well as other styles. They also do decent cocktails for non beer drinkers. There are frequently great cans to be taken away.

The outdoor seating has an incredible view towards Manhattan that's beautiful when the city is lit up at night. There's a great food scene within walking distance in Williamsburg.

    Threes is a close second.

So glad you mentioned this place. I'm only about 30 mins from it and I've been wanting to go for a while. I'll have to check it out soon.

Stirling Hotel in Stirling NJ has some of the best outdoor ambiance with outdoor fireplaces, beer garden, indoor/outdoor dining, great food and always a solid tap list... favorite taproom in the area is Twin Elephant, cool people, chill vibe and good tunes, topped of with great beers.

I just wish Stirling hotel was opened later on Fridays and Saturdays. I think they close at 10? Ugh.

Back pattio at Ommegang in Cooperstown is chill. Wish Suarez had some type of outdoor setup.

    Few come to mind:

    - 12 West in Phoenix. The brewery and bar are in an old airplane hangar (the half-circle type, not a full warehouse-looking building) and they have a beautiful outside area.

    - Abandon Brewing on Kueka lake. In an old barn/farmhouse with an unbelievably beautiful view of the lake.

    - Young Lion in Canandaigua. Sits literally right on the head of Canandaigua Lake, you can sit at the bar, look out the windows and see a ton of boats cruising by and all types of lake activity.

    - Climbing Bines on Seneca Lake. Rustic taproom with a ton of outdoor seating, and an ideal view of both the lake as well as the hop vines and other farmland.

    - Lake Placid Brewing. You can sit in an Adirondack chair outside a stone's throw from Mirror Lake.

My 'vote' for a bucolic setting of a brewery near me is Hidden River in Douglesville, PA. It is located in an old building (Brixton Lodge) that is reportedly haunted. When the weather is nice you can sit out on a deck that overlooks a stream that empties into the Schuykill River; there are large Sycamore trees nearby that provide plenty of pleasant shade. The 'bonus' is that the beers there are very good - excellent.

    Cheers!

Agreed that I could stare out the window and drink beer all day at Suarez.

Local to me, Folksbier is my go-to. Walkable from my apartment, nice range of styles, and a comfortable place to have a conversation or read for a bit.

Unless staring at a warehouse wall is your perfect setting, I don't think we have anything but this one in SE PA.

Not bucolic, per se, but I like the physical spaces of both Forest and Main and the Tired Hands Brew Cafe. The Fermentaria, on the other hand, is an industrial disaster.

I enjoy the setting of Forest & Main. It is an older house and the bar area is nice and cozy and in nicer weather you can go out on the porch.

I think they did a great job of turning a trolley depot into a brewery haha. Maybe not bucolic but it's a cool space.

Southern Tier has a nice spot, probably enhanced that I showed up on a perfect day in the summer while there was some kind of folk festival but great outdoor area.

Yeah the Fermentaria isn't 'beautiful,' but it sure as hell isn't anything close to a 'disaster,' not sure what that dude is talking about.
