I took a Lyft with a group of five people from Ukrainian Village. It was super quick and only cost $10-$15/pp.

A lot of people in our group had group A tickets and there were no shuttle buses leaving that early. Definitely suggest it for next year if you're eager to get there earlier than 8 a.m.

Easy $80 Uber round trip, if you split the fare with others its not bad considering parking costs money anyhow if you were to stupidly drive.

This would sound close to what I would think. I would expect it to be around $80 fair

That's what all the smart people do.

I shared an Uber with a couple others last year, and think it was around $90, but we were coming from a bit further north in the city. And I think I ended up too drunk to really care or remember what the cost was.

dang you kinda just blew my mind. my buddy and i just reserved $300 together for rooms (in case a friend or two inevitably comes and needs a place to crash) -- we could just shuttle down from beer temple/wherever and then uber black it back to chicago for ~$100/120? maybe $150 tops? that's half the price we pay and i can sleep in my own bed/drunkenly harass my wife...

It seems like the big benefit to the hotel rooms out near FFF are that you can bottle share if you choose to do so (not my cup of tea before/after DLD, but to each their own) and you can take your bottles back to your room for safekeeping. The latter is certainly a nice benefit, but I'll take my own bed and getting to see the wife/kids before and after.

Yeah, I've gotten a hotel room or shuttle home the past few years. I'll most likely do uber this year. I've been scared to try it since the nightmare I had at the 15th Anny party trying to get home when our ride left early. But it sounds like ride sharing is plentiful these days, and I'd pay double just to sleep in my own bed and not worry about getting home.

The later is the exact reason I am looking at a hotel room. The last think I need is for my wife and kids to see me after DLD. Getting to sleep in a bit the following morning is also a plus.

I wouldn't recommend trying to get an uber back to the city from Munster. Getting one from the city down is fairly easy, but I would plan on taking a shuttle back.

Welp, now you have me scared to try it again. I also refuse to do a shuttle though after a bad experience early on with Reggie's (waiting for people, then the bus broke down on the way home). I value my time!

The Reggie's shuttle is certainly an adventure.

There is usually a shuttle that leaves/from Jak's tap in the west loop w/ scheduled times departure/return times. It's costs about $25 and they seem to use newer school buses.

Yeah, I'd still much rather pay $300 for a rented personal shuttle for like 8 people that share something with 80 other people. But just personal preference at this point in my life.

My process of getting home the past 3 years has been to stumble over to the shuttle area, find a shuttle that looks like it's about to leave, give the driver $10, and get on the bus. Luckily I've ended up back in Chicago all 3 times with no hiccups *knocks on wood*

I've always had friends with me and lots of booze left from the day, so a breakdown wouldn't be the worst thing.

Funny, last year was my first year at DLD, and right when we left I literally had the hiccups.

Have tickets to Prop day?. Seriously though, I have no problem sharing if we want to do some sort of mini bottle share. My friend traded me the Handjee as I originally got Muerte so he would bring that as well.

Hampton Inn in Munster just called me back and said rooms are $349/night, 2 night minimum and are non-refundable.

There is a new Holiday Inn Express in Hammond, right next door to the new Hampton, that is under construction, but should be opening up here sometime in the next few months. If I see / hear that it opened I'll give y'all a heads up so you can swarm the reservation lines.

Oh, and its walking distance to Byway Brewing, so you've got that going for you.

They called me a couple weeks prior to DLD 17 with those same prices. I about laughed them off the phone.
