Have a busy day off planned....some hiking, some sailing, some drinking, you know, the "good stuff!"

Super fresh and local

 

Boy was home so did not get here last evening. The FW Bravo and Helldorado were yummy though !

 

Mornin' all. No pic Friday since I have to recharge my phone this a.m. (dammit, another late outing to Local Option and I forget to do basic menial, bedtime tasks... but they did have OB Death by Coconut on tap last night so ... it wasn't a complete loss).
It's the usual this morning, OB Hotbox Coffee Porter. Yum. Make your Friday count. Cheers!

Wow, if I counted right my post makes three of the eight posters thus far drinking Ohio beer this morning!
Anyone in central/southern Ohio will appreciate why a brewery in Portsmouth is brilliant naming their pumpkin ale Circleville. I haven't been drinking many pumpkin brews the past few years but this one is refreshingly better than average. Cheers!

It feels like a mountain morning cutting grass in 50 degree weather.

I had the 2nd one at cellar temperature. It really brings out the corn.

Moving right along . . .



Very attractive amber gold color with white cap and lacing.

Deep caramel scent with spicy hops in the background. Hops also posses a light herbalness that borders on being floral.

Flavor is caramel malt forward without being overly so. I mean it's there, it's in your face, but it's a caress rather than slaps. The neat thing is balancing hops in just the right proportion come into play very quickly and last through the finish. This is unusual for me as I don't generally notice much hop presence in these Fall Fest beers. Brewer says Noble Hops and mentions Hallertau. Don't know if they use other varieties as well but they certainly use enough to balance things out.

Good medium-full texture with balancing carbonation.

Very good flavor that I would've rated higher were it not for some slightly over roasted malt in the aftertaste like a flat note from one of the tenors that mars an otherwise flowing choral line.
