Ok, just shared a 2017 Dark Lord with some friends. I thought it was perfectly sweet, although some friends said a little too sweet. Better than other years I have had. Can't wait to come up with a good reason to open the other 3 bottles!

 

I hear tomorrow is a Saturday. Is that reason enough?

 

If that's not reason enough you've got celebrations for Stranger Things Season 2, Halloween, or All Saints Day.

Proud of my BA friends for mentioning DA in page one. I see my work productivity taking a hit. Plan for tomorrow is to babysit the smoker all day (thanksgiving practice turkey), so I am gonna pop a dl early in the day to celebrate the shitshow returning.

 

Not gonna lie, I had Chinese food last night and thought about cracking a Dark Lord.

Got my hotel booked yesterday at the new hotel in Munster,they doubled the rates for DLD weekend but not having to deal with shuttles and fees is worth it to us.

 

Did anyone see Handjee on tap last year at DLD? I didn’t see it tapped and I looked the next day at checkins and didn’t seem like it was. However, someone told me it was tapped.

 

I was at DLD until approximately 9P.M. or thereabouts (from opening) and I never saw or heard anyone say that it was tapped.

 

I don't think it was tapped but I know some bottles were opened, I was happy to get a taste.

 

I didn't see any Handjee, but I saw assassin.

Pro tip for this year...

If the line is huge for a variant, skip the line, and just ask people leaving with it for a small pour of theirs. Most people are really fucking cool about it, given the nature of the fest.

Be sure to return the favor when you can! If you see me and ask for a pour, you shall receive!

 

I’ve smoked turkey for the past 2 Thanksgivings and have not been happy with how they have turned out. Perhaps a little Dark Lord while cooking the bird will make it better. What’s your recipe?

 

All this Turkey talk makes me think of drinking a DL over thanksgiving. Also, I think a caramelized sweet potato variant aged in maple syrup barrels would be pretty good.
