Hey @tcorder219 , cleaned out a drawer yesterday and some grade A nostalgia popped up.

There was some good stuff coming out that year. I can't remember what the homebrew winner ended up being though.

Whoa mama I just bought a 4 pack of this in Athens on an impromptu road trip this morning

    Brewed 10/10

This stuff is as good as Juju or Bodhi. Maybe better. This might be the best IPA I've ever tried.

Headed to solon for a high school football game Friday. Any good places to eat that have craft beer

Has anyone been to the Thirsty Dog taproom and brewery on the east bank of the Flats?

On Friday from 6:30-8, Heinens on Green Road will have a tasting of 10 Jackie O's brews including Bourbon Barrel Champion Ground Imperial Stout on draft.

No. Solon is a black hole for good beer and food. Best bet is probably Burntwood or Harvest but neither is that great. There is also a Burgers 2 Beer but their burgers are the only thing more mediocre than their contrived beer list.

I would head 10 minutes south to Twinsburg and go to Brewster’s or 15 minutes to Lizardville Bedford.

Went there the second day they were open. Nice atmosphere, the one manager was great and knew a lot about the beers. I believe he was from the Akron area, so he'd been around the taproom at the production facility (which is one of my favorite places). The rest of the wait staff was really nice, but weren't "Beer people" I guess you'd say? Totally fine, but it was just funny hearing her try to talk about Old Leghumper being a great way to start and I'm sitting there like "Holy fucking shit they have a Bent Tree coffee variant and a bananas foster variant of BA Siberian Night... and sherry barrel wulver!"

Needless to say, those immediately became some of the best BA beers in the city, the day they were tapped.

FWIW I think Burntwood and B2B are solid for food. Nothing amazing but certainly above average.

Thank you for the feedback. I thought everything from the website, which isn't that informative imo, looked very intriguing and you've confirmed it.

I know it's been speculated back and forth, but I received confirmation from a Heidelberg contact that BCBS will be in the Cincinnnati area.

Cool. I'm curious to see how much Cincinnati (actually, all of Ohio) ends up getting.

Actually, I'm curious about everywhere. For some reason I have this feeling like there is going to be gobbs of it compared to past years. (Or maybe I just really hope so.)

Went there the day after it opened. Nice atmosphere but good lord were the prices asinine. Food looked really good though.

Since we are on the topic of Thirsty Dog and pricing...their BA 12 Dogs of years past, the Mganum 1.5L, costs $49.99 per bottle. Rounding up, that is 51 ounces. This year they came out with a 4pk(48 ounces) and are charging $24. WTF? Is this an Akron(hi Hoppin Frog)thing to “over charge” your customers?

^^ If it was an $11 bomber, would you feel similarly?

He isn’t complaining about the price of the 4 packs. Just an observation I believe. They have been that for years (and well worth it for Wulver). However, they had been charging twice as much for the BA Christmas Ale since about 2012. Now with additional packaging costs 5 years later it is half as much?

It's not as simple as just factoring in the cost of the liquid. I bet those magnum bottles were really expensive to use. Also they must have made much more of the beer this year.

The move from those stupid magnums to 4 packs is good. This way there will be opportunity to buy singles.
