If you are going to ferment in sterilized plastic liners, what do you need the jug for?
If you are not going to sterilize in plastic liners, is the jug a better better bottle?

I've been thinking of investing in new fermenters But I've been thinking along these lines:

Those look nice but would not work for me as I brew in my garage and ferment in the basement. I need no extra weight.

Sanitizing means 99% removal of micro-organisms.
Sterilizing means 99.999% removal of micro-organisms. A big difference actually.

I'll stick with my 8 dollar bucket I don't care about.

I generally dismiss articles and such when they start talking about "sterilizing."

I'm making beer, not prepping for surgery.

I'm pretty sure what they meant when they wrote "sterilize" was "sanitize", although I'm guessing the bags are actually sterilized, probably via UV light but who knows. I still don't trust any of it. I guess I'm too old skool.

Can I punch you in the head?
By you. I mean the person that designed this silly contraption.

I wonder what the "coned bottom" looks like on the inside? I have a brewbucket, but this looks about $70 cheaper and very similar.

The zero headspace bit is actually more silly than the sterilizing/sanitizing bit.

This would make a great giant growler. Add ice then fill the bag with beer. Almost like box wine.

I recall Chris White saying something on a podcast about using sterilized bags to brew. Scaled up, I could see this perhaps saving on start up costs over stainless for commercial breweries. Mind you, I don’t price 10 barrel systems and don’t know the price of a 10 barrel sterilized bag. I’d also feel a little guilt every time I disposed of one. For homebrewers, little to no savings would be realized. I don’t feel like punching anyone in the head, @MostlyNorwegian , but I don’t think this revolutionizes homebrewing.

Those Anvil SS Buckets probably don't weigh significantly more than a regular plastic bucket...the only drawback, imho, as the walls are fairly thin and easily deform if dropped (at least the Brewtech ones)

Dude, who's got time for an autoclave when you're seizing the means of production?

A couple years ago I was looking for lagering tanks for my last brewery and one of the biggest suppliers of the size I was looking for sold their's with the intent of having a plastic bladder that would be filled so the beer would never actually touch the stainless. I'm trying to remember if I was looking into it for Brett beer production or if it was just the only option that had the features I wanted. I did a quick search for those tanks and now I don't see them.
