I live 2 blocks from Argonaut and went in on Tuesday and they only had the spiced wars variant. No coffee or regular. Guy said to check back ok Wednesday (yesterday). Most of the beer guys that know what they're talking about are gone by 4pm so it kind of sucks trying to get anything in the back or have someone find something in the back after that time.

Copper Kettle Coconut Snowed In is friggin' fantastic. Probably the best beer I've had from them in a while.

Snowed in has been a great beer the past few times I've had it. I never got why it never got hype.

Did you try the Maple they released over the summer? Incredible.

Snowed In in consistently one of the best BA stouts in the state, but I will say that it is best consumed fresh, at least for my tastes.

When I age a beer it's never as good as it was fresh. Ever.

I agree with that sentiment with the exception of wild ales.

    Expedition stout disagrees.
Otherwise you’re pretty much on point here...

Some beers that I think are absolutely better with age: Abyss, Founders Imperial Stout, and Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout. Grimm Brothers "The Count" and Avery's Momi Hiwa both seemed better with 1 year on it then fresh. Whoops, most of those aren't from CO though.

I have liked Snowed In in general. The recent editions with the more prominent coffee have been really good. The bourbon is just a little too light for me to be Wow'd.
I tried the Maple version during their Anniversary this year. I don't know if it was the same batch they had during the Summer, but I wasn't much impressed. I would have rather had the regular.
There have also been some MCS variations that weren't all that spectacular. Though I do like the current pumpkin.
Well Bred and Sobremesa have also disappointed for the past 2 years.
But back on point: I was able to grab a bottle of Coconut at Grapevine, just bummed there was a 1 bottle limit.

Anyone excited for Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptist? The release is tomorrow at 5pm. Here's the description:

"The trio of barrel-aged Imperial stout, barrel-aged Colombia Risaralda coffee, and barrel-aged coconut (yes we put coconut into barrels and let it age), plus an added dimension from using a percentage of rum barrels, come together in a ridiculously perfect way."

I thought Double Barrel was great last year. Looking forward to trying this.

Any idea what they are charging per bottle? I didn't see that info on the facebook event.

I agree with this. Some change in ways that I consider to be acceptable or equally good (lambics/wilds, barleywines) but I can't think of a single beer that I have enjoyed more after aging. Granted, I'll occasionally let something mellow for a month or two, but to me "aging" has to at least be longer than macro lager's best-by date. I don't consider anything aged unless it's at least 6 months old or more.

The only reason I keep anything longer than a few months is just because I don't always want to drink a special beer right away. Luckily my cellar is like 90% Caseys and Lambics, so I don't mind hanging on to them.

Double Barrel was $16. Can't imagine it will be a ton more than that.

Just had a '16 Double Barrel last night and it was drinking really nicely for 1 year. On the other hand my '16 Big Bad Baptista was showing signs of turning ugly (slight cherry sour, slick mouthfeel).
