They seem to have thrown their hat into the NEIPA game. Their first attempt is almost as good as anything from the bigger guys. Reminds me a lot of OH beers. Shows that if they wanted to go to down the hazy/line culture road they could do it anytime they wanted....

Super original name. Can't believe no one in NE has thought of it yet...

The full name of the beer is Audition Double Galaxy. Audition is an IPA series where the hops change.

Thanks for this. Audition is kind of like TH Curiosity, Nebco Spin Cycle, etc. I’m sure if added to the rotation the name will be changed to something original.....

I'm not sure if I'd say this is necessarily their first foray into the style as the orange Space Coyote series started featuring an English yeast after the first batch. The same goes for Wizard Fight.

I will say I've tended to enjoy the old school balance of Spiral Architect and Headway more than the hazier hoppy beers they've done so far, but I haven't tried the new one yet.

Just cracked one. No joke. Every bit as good as the NE "big boys". Huge tropical flavor; aroma fills the room. No grit, floaties or pasty yeast. Homogenous pour from start to finish. I hope the New England style isn't going to be a constant staple at CW but it is refreshing to know that they can brew a quality example from time to time.

I agree. I love wizard fight, spiral and headway. Double galaxy is as good as any of that style I’ve had in a while though.

It’s actually Audition: Galaxy Double IPA. And it’s good. Cheers.

I had my first Green from Tree House in quite some time last week. I realized that it reminded me a lot of Counterweight's Inundation and mentioned it to a buddy. He still had a couple cans, so we compared the two side by side. They were very similar (I don't know what hops are used in Green, but Counterweight indicates there is a heavy dose of citra in Inundation). We both agreed that, if anything, we preferred the Inundation. I didn't get to try the Double Galaxy, but I definitely like the direction Counterweight is going.

So when people say it tastes like Green, they mean that this beer is in the Tree House/Tilted Barn glass-of-juice style where the yeast plays a big role, or that it has similar flavors to Green while being in the more typical NEIPA style like Trillium/Fox Farm/Steady Habit where it's fruity but still maintains some ties to more traditional IPAs?

Counter Weight has been my go to since they opened so I'm surprised to hear Tree House comparisons because that's so far from what they've been doing, though I knew with the new brewer coming things would change a bit.

It's up there with green. I love this brew.

I also agree with you. I tend to go to counterweight for their brews other than their ipas. If anything I would love to see more stouts. I do love space coyote though. I'm not big on wizard fight but I'm also not big on mosaic forward ipas. Spiral is very good too.

I do hope that this becomes a regular. I'll probably go back Thursday for more. I'm also a sucker for Galaxy.

I don't know if this is a "neipa" or not but they nailed style without trying. I'm also a sucker for Galaxy hops.

These guys brew a quality example of anything. Their pilsner, oatmeal stout, and grisette are excellent.

Bias against tree house? If anything green is more bitter. I don't get the oaty somewhat astringent tree house/Bissell flavor. It tastes like a counterweight brew that happens to be hazy.

It's a heavily dry hopped Galaxy IPA. It's going to taste similar to green.

That's a brew with citra lupin powder. If anything it reminds me of bright with citra. I don't get the green comparison at all with that one.

I'm sorry but your post doesn't make any sense to me. I love Tree House, what makes you think I have a bias against them?

And "It's heavily dry hopped with galaxy...it's going to taste like green" is one of the more absurd things I've read on here lately. If you don't recognize that a massive component of Tree House beers is the yeast then I'm not sure we're drinking the same beer.

To be fair I can always taste galaxy....mainly because the label tells me so

But in all seriousness, the pineapple/mango delight that is green is pretty recognizable. At least to me Congress st has a similar flavor as does LH Glorious. For that flavor I use Green as a reference, and surprise, surprise all feature galaxy hops. While I haven't had anything from CW (something I hope to remedy in the near future), based on the description of it dry hopped with galaxy...I would guess it will have some similar flavors and I may think to myself...yep reminds me of green.

like I said in my original post, I think Tree House and Trillium are perfect examples of the two different styles of NEIPA. you seem to be lumping them together as interchangeable so perhaps you view things differently than I do. what I'm asking for is for someone that sees things the way I do and has had double galaxy to let me know which of the two styles this falls under, in their opinion.

bababooy saying in one post that he's not sure whether this is a NEIPA and then in the next telling me of course it tastes like Green is the opposite of what I'm looking for.
