[IMG] Doc @lordofthewiens it always makes my day when you a have a coffee beer and a sandwich. I picked one of those up in yesterdays monster haul, how is it? This stuff is excellent here. Love trips to Massachusetts my friend. Cheers

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Looking to be a pleasant day. Supposed to start raining today and get more severe tomorrow. Will probably just stay home. No real urgent need for any new beer hauls right now.

    Beers this morning:

Incredible as always. Flavors of juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness. Very smooth finish with balanced hop stickiness and bready creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, never astringent. Has all the Mosaic and Citra hop flavors I love, with balanced bready malts to make it taste super juicy. Glad I decided to revisit this beer last year, a top favorite IPA now for sure. I need to keep this around more often. I love so many Deschutes beers, it's hard to choose which one I want. They are all on rotational 6 pack buys.

This is tasting amazing! Flavors of raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and light clove/pepper yeast spice. Balanced sweetness and yeast/tannic oak spice on the finish. A bit above medium bodied; very smooth finish with light-moderate creaminess/slickness in the mouthfeel. Great balanced between the barrel and quad complexity. Minimal warming ABV, no barrel booze. Well attenuated and not overly sweet. One of my favorite BBA Quads of all time.

Always amazing. Flavors of nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, and light smoke/dark fruit; with some herbal/woody hop and coffee characteristics. Light-moderate herbal hop and roasted coffee bitterness; full-ish body creamy/silky mouthfeel, with some light sticky/chalky roast notes as well. Lightly increasing bitter/roasted dryness. One of the most coffee forward beers I've ever had. Intense on fruity/nutty coffee complexity; and the base brown ale is spot on, and very well balanced. Like a brown ale version of FBS, and I feel it is equally as impressive. Feels a tad more bitter than I recall last year, but is smoothing out nicely after 7 months. I seem to prefer this with a bit of age, just as with Breakfast stout. Still have plenty left, more on the shelf if I want any.

I have not seeked this out in some time, but they seem to be easier to find more recently. Just got this last weekend, and bought a XX as well this week. That being said: this vintage is not anywhere nearly as stellar as I remember it, but still really enjoyable. Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, brown sugar, vanilla, marshmallow, bourbon, oak, toasted coconut, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of raisin, plum, fig, molasses, licorice, leather, and smoke. Mild roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy/silky and lightly slick/syrupy mouthfeel. Mild tannic dryness, no cloying sweetness. Minimal warming alcohol, no barrel booze. A bit of a diacetyl bomb here, but it's not as bad as the notorious 2015 Silva Stout. Will try out this year's version really soon. Last time I had the bourbon version was in 2014 with XVI.

Good morning @SawDog505. I liked Breakfast Beast a lot, although the coffee was more subtle than I thought it would be. And I always enjoy my trips to Night Shift. Have a great weekend.

Sometimes you wake up and have about half a Backwoods Bastard awaiting you. Nice gesture, but who let it get all the way to room temperature?

Good morning BA's! Wow, some of us are up early after a 22 page very late night (no I'm not a cop, just an analytical). 3 mile run in the books, heading to the Chili cookoff shortly. Will post up a beer around lunchtime. Have a great day and may your college team play well today!

Breakside • Old Lord Chubby Cheeks Rye Whiskey Barrel Wheatwine VS Hair of the Dog • Bourbon Fred From The Wood

I decided to do a side by side with these two. I was surprised just how similar they are. Where as the Hair of the Dog has the notorious non-existent head, the Breakside is a tad darker and definitely more carbonated. But when it comes to taste, the Hair of the Dog is unsurprisingly more boozier - even thought the Old Lord Chubby Cheeks had been barrel aged 15 months, the Bourbon Fred had been aged for “over 18 months”.
