Not sure why it would be, unless they announce some kind of release beforehand.

I went up on Friday and was surprised it was as quiet as it was with PB Cup Achro bottles still available. The Woodford Rye Coffee Maple Medianoche was fantastic and I am happy to report that PBCA is just as delicious as the first batch. I think C&C Achro is actually better from the bottle than the draft pour I had, but still very good regardless.

    * They tapped the very last keg of Coffee Maple Noche while I was there so hurry up if you want to try it.

Seeing a couple more reports on off flavors from Reserve bottles. Now it seems to be diacetyl/butter flavors.

Wonder if Weldwerks will do anything to comp for this. Kind of a shame given it's such a great bottle (when not infected) and was $35.

They handled the BAMA infection very efficiently and publicly; there is no reason to suspect the same wouldn't be the case for Reserve if it turns out to be a thing.

And to clarify, diacetyl is not an infection, it is an off-flavor (just writing this out, not saying anyone used the word infection ITT). I realize it amounts to the same as far as taste goes, but diacetyl can clear up with age, whereas an infection is far more serious and will likely get worse.

Why would some bottles pick up diacetyl flavors but most others not? I admittedly have very little understanding of how these things work.

If the diacetyl precursor is plenty present in the beer and they did not perform a good enough check prior to bottling, it'll spontaneously convert to diacetyl with a little warmth and time, or just time. So it's possible.

However I have heard that some pediococcus genus can either create diacetyl or something along those lines. However that's probably linked with other noticeable warning signs.

So it could be an issue with all bottles, just that some were opened before they turned and thus still tasted good?

Visiting Denver next week (Thursday), and I'm considering hitting up Weldwerks. Couple questions..

1.) Will PBC Achromatic last till then?
2.) Are they good at keeping online taplist up to date?
3.) Will Coffee Coconut Stout last till then?
4.)If I only hit one brewery is Weldworks the one?

I will only be in Denver one day then headed west to Keystone for the week. Im in to stouts, juicy IPAs, and bourbon.

thanks in advance for any help.

They are pretty good about keeping the taplist up to date but it's definitely not in real time.
Coffee coocnut cans are in stores around town.

and no, there are tons of great breweries here that are as good or better than Weldwerks. I always advocate for the Broadway crawl. Baere to Trve to Black Project and finish at Grandma's house. All on the same street, all do good beer.

Yeah, could be. If it is an infection then it could have come from anywhere. But considering the testing done on the beer before packaging it is probably more likely that it came from the packaging process and is developing in the bottles. It really could be a number of different factors, but considering that it is suddenly popping up raises some questions. We'll have to wait and see.

I didn't taste anything resembling diacetyl. I think it might be a bit of residual oil from the coconut giving kind of a slick/oily feel. And we didn't notice any signs of infection in the 2 bottles we've opened.

Interesting theory, @Dan_K (and one that would seem to carry some merit) ! I’m honestly not too concerned at this point. I do plan on drinking mine sooner than later based purely on the ridiculous amount of adjunct (common sense tells me that age isn’t going to help all that coconut and whatnot).

The only problem with that particular brewery crawl is that it's a little heavier on sours than juicy IPAs & stouts. With that said, those breweries are all very good.

After looking these up I felt the same way. Not really what I am into. Atmosphere looked good on each of them though.

You'll probably want to plan on spending more time drinking while in Keystone. The skiing is.going to be no bueno.
