You've seen much worse so that makes leaving the line for an hour or so to pick up another allotment elsewhere perfectly acceptable? Actually no, it's still rude & disrespectful. Oh but you 'established your spot' (whatever the F that means) & made friends with those around you, which I presume included everyone behind you in line. It's great to read you plan on doing the same this year too. I can empathize with the need to get as many allotments as possible.

At 6 am, you'll probably be ok finding parking on Clybourn. I got there at 4am last year and there were spots all up and down Clybourn in both directions. If you're not too far, you may want to consider ubering too, just to avoid the hassle.

Why the hate for the first guy in line? If he wants to devote 3 days of his life to waiting in a line, more power to him. At least he isn't cutting in line.

The Germans had similar reasoning in the late '30s/early '40s after they witnessed the Ottoman Empire getting away with Armenian genocide.... I guess we all have our bar for what is morally right or wrong. Think the golden rule applies here. If you don't want it happening to you, why do it to someone else?

Seems no different from putting down a chair and then waiting in your car

I'm not going to Black Friday so don't really have a dog in this particular fight. First I would say "I've seen worse" usually isn't much of a justification.

Second I don't think anyone begrudges people leaving a line briefly to avoid physical discomfort like using the bathroom, warming up, grabbing something to eat, etc, understanding those people generally intend to stay in line. The way you explain it you specifically did NOT intend to stay in line, and wanted to go buy more of the same products you were in the first line for.

Those who attempt to turn their significant other into a mule find they transform themselves into a jackass....:stuck_out_tongue:

Damn. Huge allocation. Who ever said the burds allocation sucks is an idiot. Will buy 1 full one for sure however the GF's will be cut significantly this year. Dont need 500$ worth of BCS lol.

Going to another store and double dipping on what you're saving a spot in the other line for is very different than waiting in your car for a couple hours to warm up. The people in the car aren't taking the Jewel allotment from the person at the back of the Jewel line.

Compared to LP Binny's the allocation of suburbs does suck. This was not aimed at bashing on other allocations, but more of a statement as to why LP will be even crazier this year with a guarantee of two Prop, multiple coffee and BW.

I've never been to the Lincoln Park release. Usually hit up my local Binnys... However the past two years the allocations have been horrible. Last year the stores shipment was like half a case of prop, case(may have been less) of coffee and 3 cases of barleywine and several cases of regular. Got there at 4 am and ended up with barleywine and reg....So yes I'm def going to be one of those adding to the craziness of Lincoln Park...if I'm going to waste time making the choice to get up early, might as well make it worth it.

Where is your local Binny's? Asking so I don't go there.

Burbs is the place to be this year. Everyone going to LP will make the burbs stores easier. Everyone will bitch about what a SS LP was and it will be back to LP next year.

McHenry. It's been awful the past 2 years... People go there thinking it won't be as bad as other Binnys, but they get a very small delivery and there's usually not enough to make sure everyone at least gets something

To me it's just like an extension of muling. If people are alright with using a chair to save your spot and you're willing to go through the effort of running around then it's just part of the lawless wasteland that is th Chicago beer scene.

Damn, I usually shop McHenry or Lake Zurich a few times a month. I'll probably stick to Lake Zurich for Black Friday then.
