Geez. Everything gets taken so out of context in this forum.....what an egregious act I have committed. All the talk of "double dipping" in this thread and because I voiced something I did last year. You dont know the details from last year....i bought everyone near us in line breakfast and even traded a few of my bottles from jewel allocation to folks near us in the binnys line as well. Im not some greedy profiteerer like alot of individuals I see in the craft beer realm. Given jewel may be low allotment this year, staying put at binnys may be the best option and what I will likely do. Thanks for the constructive feedback

People are idiots lol. If you dont care of vintage bottles (and lets be serious if you want those your skipping Thanksgiving dinner) there is ZERO reason to get there before 830am.

Not that I have a dog in this fight, nor am I an underground dojo keyboard warrior, but just want to clarify every mention I've made with regards to "double-dipping" is in reference to lining up at one location (jewel) receiving an allotment at open and then travelling to lincoln park binnys and taking a spot at the end of the line. Can't be anymore different than what else is being described.

I really don't think anything is taken out of context and not sure most care whether you bought folks breakfast. Even though you've know given us the important details, what you did is generally frowned upon, and completely different than the other "double dipping" described on here, as pointed out by @fmd. When you get in a line, you're supposed to stay there, unless you're going to grab some food or go to the bathroom or something short like that. Leaving the line to go get another allocation at another store and then returning to that same point in line is not right - you should have gone to the back of the line as it existed at that time.

You live and learn. This year I will stay put at Binnys. The suburbs seem to all be getting a pretty damn good allocation and LP will be a madhouse.

I'm sure many here will disagree but Binny's should scan ID's to make sure there is no double dip. Monkish in LA does this.

I'd say half acre should do this too, as they're about to see with the benthic release on friday...

I don't think a true "double dip" (never thought I'd be considering the meaning of that word so much) has really been an issue at Binny's, has it? I'm referring to people getting 2 allocations at the same store. I know I've heard of a few cases, most notably in 2015 at LP due to low turnout, but I didn't think it's been that big of a problem. I'm sure you could go back around in line for more regular or BW, but that really isn't a big deal IMO considering how plentiful those are.

I'm not sure that is good enough...I think you need to sit this year out and think about what you did....

I gotta say, I'm genuinely not rendering judgement on anyone in this thread, but this is exactly what I don't miss about stout season the rest of the year.

    Hi All,

Hope all is well! So DC resident doing black Friday in Chicago for first time ever. DC Black Friday releases I get there at 3 am and am easily first in line. So if I were crazy enough to get there at 8 pm the day before - where in line does that put you?
My guess is you are still not in the front 100.

Nah, I meant what a pain in the ass it is to line up, all the controversies involved with the various releases, etc.

The only beer line I've been in since like...well, last winter, was a 15 minute line to grab cans of Squeezit. The cold weather and long waits hit you out of nowhere, here in Chicago.

Hard to say but in 2015 I drove by after my thanksgiving dinner and there were definitely 100 people there already.

.. totally kidding.. There was a dude that said last year he was #186 in line (if I remember right) and said he got there at 11:30pm.. That should help put it in perspective.. I plan on getting there at like 10pm with the tent and sleeping bags
