It becomes a shantytown. You’ll see, if you dare...

One of my all-time favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to sit around the fire, eat leftovers, wonder how in the world the Lions can be so, so bad for so, so, long, and gather the family around the computer to check BA or Twitter and laugh at all the pictures and stories of the crazies already in line in the bitter cold for . . . beer. I hope my kids one day pass it down to their kids, and so forth.

[i mean that with love of course]

It wraps around the building and eventually the entire block. I was back in front of the store on the sidewalk when I got there at 7 am. Eventually they make everyone put their shit away and the line contracts significantly.

When talking about LP 2 years ago, we also need to remember that the weather was absolutely awful. It was like 31 degress and steadily raining. I’m sure that had something to do with still having tickets available after open.

I know it made me not go anywhere. I said fuck it and waited for Whole Foods.

Do Whole Foods, jewell, Costco, etc announce their plans somewhere? Or do you just need to call the store?

Then you went to the wrong Jewel. Quite a few of them had awesome allotments.

The downtown ones gave at least 1 of everything, same as Binny's.

It wraps around the building around Willow Street and then N Kingsbury. Around 6 or 7 or so in the morning people start folding their tents up and the line consolidates.

Grand? I wouldn’t trust Binnys Southloop unless you know Larry. They hold things for their favorites for sure.

Whole Foods will create an event. They usually do it the week after.

For first timers, Whole Foods variants or lack thereof varied by location.

    What time was that?

I got there at 10pm that year and had ticket # 60. The line was much shorter but cutters gonna cut

Yup. I went to one downtow. Forget the crossroads but it was pretty much the same allocation as LP binnys just no vintage bottles. That is, unless you wanted to spend $130 on a 2015 Rare haha

I'll be at my local Binnys at 8pm.
I don't know if I'm bringing a tent or not, maybe just some chairs, a tv and a cooler with munchies and drinks.

    See y'all there!!

C’mon man, can’t we just laugh at the overnight campers, why do you have to bring my Lions into it.

Sooooo...I have read probably 450 posts now between last year and the past 130 this year.

If I can swing it, I am definitely having trouble contemplating whether I should try to do Binny's (And get there crazy early) or do smaller stores that open earlier and care mostly about the regular and some coffee. (My issue is I would have to leave Chicago by 9:45 at the latest, so if I did Binny's, I would HAVE to get there crazy early to be out in time.)

I think a huge factor for me is how much of the VR/Prop14 they will have. Is there any real way to gage this? I can't believe last year they had at least 200 people worth (or at least collectively they lasted that long). I'll never have a shot at these otherwise, so it almost seems worth it to get there at 10:30pm if I had some reasonable probability of getting one.

Did they say last year how many people were "guaranteed" vintages (of all types)? Or is that new to this year?

I just want to reiterate that many (not all) smaller stores will raise prices and/or require you to buy 12 packs of hoppy Goose beers in order to buy coffee. 9:45 is tough. Maybe picking a prominent Jewel will be your best bet given what you want and your timeframe

Last years Binnys LP post: "We can now confirm that Binny’s has secured a large enough allocation of vintage BCBS to allow all ticket holders in line at Binny’s Lincoln Park to purchase one 22/16.9oz or two 12oz vintage bottles."

Seems like their vintage stock is shrinking hence the 500 people limit. But that could change come closer to the event.

I think it's more interesting that they won't be posting prices of bottles until the morning of.
