Figure I'd come in here with my Tavour experiences, both positive and negative.

Firstly, the Tavour customer service is awesome in my experiences. I've never gone more than a couple hours without a response.

I've been annoyed by the fact that the packages can't be left on the stoop, but rather must be signed for. Of the 4 packages I've had sent my way from them, I've had to pick up two. Not difficult for me since I'm in sales, but getting down to the GSO location on the peninsula isn't easy for everyone. But this is alcohol, so can't blame it on Tavour.

The box itself I think it's awesome. Yes, they don't add any additional padding, but I've never had a damaged can or bottle. I've used every box in beer trading with much positive feedback (although I add bubble wrap below and above the beers).

As for the beer itself, it's pretty Pacific Northwest focused, but with an expanding list of options. There are some pretty mediocre beers offered, but also some good ones. Basically, I just check untapped for the ratings to see if it's worth adding to my cart. When building a crate with selections I'm just very patient. I generally am not in need of any of the beers quickly, and being selective with my last two crates has resulted in much better experiences than my first two, in which I just drain poured at least half. I wasn't on untapped at the time, so just got all the IPAs with good descriptions. Little did I know that any beer can be described eloquently, but still taste like nothing but malt lol

Selfishly I'd recommend Tavour, since the more people they get on board the more sway I'd assume they'll have to get more stuff like Maine Beer Co, TG, etc.

I know that you asked this question over three years ago, which is about when I joined Tavour. I have found that I really enjoy it. They send you at least one beer choice daily via email, which you can then choose to add to your "basket" or simply ignore. Every 30 days they take whatever beers you have ordered and ship them to you.
I have come to really enjoy the well written, often very creative beer descriptions for their daily offerings and getting the monthly shipment is like 12 Christmases a year.
The great thing about it for me is the constant exposure to new beers and the no obligation to buy anything policy. It's been a lot of fun!

there are good apples then there are bad. This service is like 60/40; 40 being good & 60 taking the majority of your funds if you happen to come across some good stuff as it simply racks up quickly.

Yes. Pulled the trigger just recently. It was fine. 6 out of 10. The ipa selections was okay to good. It took me about 5 weeks to order 3 bottles and 4 cans? It was a hit or miss with the choices everyday. 15 or 16 for shipping. Hadn’t traded in over 2 years. Thought I give these guys a shot. Would I use them again? Probably not unless.....
Well we have so many great local choices in our backyards.

Is this like a Columbia House thing but instead of sending you Santana Abraxas you get Perennial Abraxas?

    Best anology I've heard yet.

The beers are a bit more expensive than that $0.01, though...

And I don't think they send out a single Abraxas level beer, do they?

Thus far it's completely random when they do so but you have to move asap as they fly. It's as if some of the members there are like a fly on shit as there have been times when i spotted something & was gone with a few minutes of the posting which is ridiculous.

I could see them getting regular Abraxas, but none of the variants. Abraxas gets shelf distro'd in CA, so it wouldn't surprise me if Tavour got it.

Want to say they had 17 at some point.

It is also regional. My friends in SEA get offered different beers than I get offered in LA.

Last year this time they had Abraxas for $25, limit 6. I ordered and paid for 6. I received 2. Tavour couldn’t send me the other 4 because they were sold out. I asked them if they could send me an equally sought after beer, they said no. After a week I finally got a refund for the bottles I didn’t get. Two weeks after that I got a refund for my shipping cost, my argument being I wouldn’t have ordered just two bottles and pay for shipping; you guys screwed up, give me something so I don’t curse your name.
They did eventually but the whole thing put a horrible taste in my mouth. All that being said I signed back up but haven’t seen anything worth purchasing.
Also, a few weeks ago they had Fremont Darkstar, limit 1. That’s just to give you guys an idea of what they offer and limits.

    Brutal...

Picked up the KDS, but that was because I had a box basically ready to send.

Interesting. I had no idea. That sounds like a huge pain though.

I didn't have a bad experience with Tavour. If your looking for those so called whalz then maybe this is not the place to find them. Or do they show up once or twice a year? I ain't looking for whalz. I picked up some Breakside bottles from my one and only order. I thought they were good enough. Shipping cost is far better than trades. Overall I don't think I'll be using Tavour and trading anytime soon. I gotz enough cans & bottles already. I'm happy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Got double dry hopped Psuedo Sue and Side Project Biere du Pays in my last box, currently have Kentucky Dark Star and A Deal With the Devil waiting to ship out now. Previously got Mother of all Storms and other Toppling Goliath ipa bombers. I’ve been pretty happy ordering a few bottles here and there.

Tavour has a 375 ml bottle of A Deal With the Devil Double Oak for $34.99. Limit one. I passed because that would have been the most expensive beer per ounce I ever had. It sold out so That feeling is obviously just me. Hopefully when it hits distribution it’s not that pricey!

I was going to bite but damn thats was pricey, makes me realize the batch 2 I got for $35 something was a steal. Comparing 750ml to 375ml.
