Can anyone get info on Jewel pricing?

I think that will help us understand what Binnys pricing this year will be.

Has anyone experienced waiting in lines at Jewel in suburbs? I'm thinking about hitting a Jewel in Naperville because I like Jewel stores open at 7am. I might go solo this year and I don't really want to wait in a line for hours.

They’re having really good stuff on all weekend. Very underrated place imo

Was anyone else very underwhelmed by double barrel on draft at FOBAB? Prop was fantastic, double barrel didn't do it for me. I'm usually the type that prefers strong bourbon flavors over adjuncts so this was a big surprise.

Agreed. Double barrel was underwhelming. Wasn’t bad, but wasn’t exciting.

Edit: in case I am appearing overly negative -

Brasserie Noir tasted nice to me. Complex, and pronounced wine notes gave depth to the stout.

Islay stout - yeah, peaty scotch fest. Good, but you need to like that profile.

Barkeywine tastes like fresh BW always does. Does the character of the vintage always need a couple years to show?

Northwoods was polarizing, as you’ve heard. A little too almond cookie / maschino cherry to me, yet I still enjoyed it.

Yeah, gonna go check it out. No answer on their phones - hopefully they aren’t sold out or dealing with a line.

Just got back. There was a small line of around 10 people waiting outside when 2pm hit. I picked up a couple pints. They had a keg of 2017 coffee going in the back.

I just got back as well. I got there shortly after 2, a bit of a line and people trickling in steadily but everyone was inside at that point.

The large stacks of cups waiting by the keg indicated to me that they have plenty of samples to give, at least. I was handed mine as soon as I walked in the door. It's tasting great this year!

Question - does the gelato have alcohol in it?

I would guess no, because then they would need a liquor license of some sort?

    But that’s purely speculation.

I completely agree with you. Really enjoyed Prop, Reserve and Northwoods. Coffee was a green pepper bomb.

Also wasn't impressed with DB BCBS relative to everything else at FoBAB. Much more impressed with the 17 variants than DB. Prop 17, Northwoods, Coffee, & Reserve were all fantastic and def preferred these over DB. Didn't get BW. 17 Regular very good as usual.

Really about coffee? That sounds disgusting.

Had a couple pours of coffee BCS earlier today at the gelato event. It was delicious. No vegetal quality whatsoever. Balanced, rich, and smooth. Black cat espresso was integrated really well - no untoward bitterness. Palates might differ, but i didn’t register anything remotely green pepper-esque.

Gelato itself was also really good.
