Wouldn't they like have blended the individual barrels in huge tanks before bottling? Are there massive variations in KBS bottles with each batch?

The 2014 batch of CBS (keg/employee bottle only) was very good when fresh. I am not sure what batch they served at Founders Fest this year but I would not have put it on par with what I drank in December of 2014.

The "hype" is likely real but is it justified in the #2017craftbeer world? Probably not. The price tag will likely limit demand a bit in retail distribution, particularly with the usual "Black Friday" releases a week prior. But who knows? I don't believe we will see distribution on par with the other "Barrel Aged Series" beer, probably the reason we aren't seeing 12oz 4pks either. Did they possibly encounter issues with aging/production? Or did they simply go with the 750ml format at a higher price point to ensure availability? Time will tell.

I felt like the 2016 KBS had plenty of "barrel" (oak), just not as much "bourbon barrel". Does Founders reuse barrels?

For those of you concerned about availability:
I spoke to a gentleman at a local store that receives very limited amounts of allocated beers. I asked him about the possibility of receiving CBS and he said he just received the ordering info from their distributor and stated that they could anticipate up to 6 cases. That's roughly the amount of Backwoods they received. So he's either mistaken and not going to actually get that amount, or there will be far more CBS to go around than we think. Although unlikely, I'm hoping for the later.

key phrase .... "up to" - don't see any way a store that gets limited amounts of allocated beers getting 6 cases of CBS. Would love to hear what he actually does receive

Jewel opens at 6am. Do liquor sales open at 6am as well? I think I remember a later time for liquor sales

I think its 7 am. That is also the time they will start selling BCBS.

    From the google:
On-premise sale is allowed from 7 A.M. to 2 A.M. Monday – Saturday and 11 A.M. to 2 A.M Sunday with a special permit and if non alcohol sales are at least 30%, private clubs can sell until 3 A.M. Wine and spirits can only be purchased in state run liquor stores that operate from 9 A.M to 10 P.M.

I respect that but Lizard of Koz is the only sacrifice the Founders Gods are satisfied with

Mix Doom & Lizard of Koz (equal parts, 12oz apiece) and chug.
5 bombers of CBS mysteriously appear. So does the Candyman, but whatever, worth it.

Got mine for the first weekend. Same day they release new mug club memberships for next year. Needless to say I've taken the day off work.
I'm thinking that the combo of them making a ton of it, plus only selling bombers is gonna result in a fair bit of availability this year.

10:16 and still tickets left. Pretty good sign they made a lot.

I'm almost surprised the 2nd weekend didn't sell out first. Same weekend as 4 Elf, and both breweries are fairly close to one another if you are traveling from the other side of MI or out of state.
