What happened to superbowl ads is political correctness, ruins everything.

#1 Pet Peeve is someone telling me my favorite beers are subpar. It's my money. My preference. My mouth. My choice.

(fairly rampant in the beer community and those who like sushi/sashimi)

People whose whole life purpose seems to be to get upset that you either

    a. Like something they don't
    b. Don't like something they do

Look - I don't like IPA's, never have, never will and you can call them whatever you want - NE style, DIPA etc - It's not my thing but that doesn't mean I don't like good beer or that I don't know what good beer is. Good beer isn't exclusive to one style. Don't get mad and pitch a fit because I don't agree with what you like, I will afford you the same courtesy.

It is NEVER bullshit to state a preference.

The only pet peeves I have regarding beer is if I drank as many as I really wanted I would weigh 300 lbs, and need a liver transplant.

New England Breweries labeling their beers as "New England IPAs" when in fact they are not NEIPAs, but simply brewed in NE, by a NE brewery. Had too many of those.

The only time I'll turn the logo around is when I use my Rainforest Cafe thistle or my Red Lobster "whatsis." (The latter has been submitted to Designs by Alyssa for a facelift.)

I'm all for experimentation but certain things DO NOT belong in beer... pizza and bacon to name a few.

It's basically just unnecessary and boastful after a certain point. I don't think there's a perceivable difference at a certain point.

More specifically, what annoys me is that breweries seem to pump up ABV to justify the high price of beers. Except for bourbon and rum, high ABV only detracts from the flavor, so I would be fine with no more than 8%. This would make bombers more easily drinkable in a sitting. I'm having a great 5.5% ABV milk stout right now.

It's still barking dogs in breweries. Sorry (but not)...

Is there any Advocates that are familiar with the "NextDoor" app? It's basically an app for whatever local neighborhood you live in in a specific city.

ANYWAY - there is a douche on our local NextDoor app that has taken it upon himself to start a craft beer thread. Its lame.

    1) It feels like he is perpetually 5 years behind the craft times (i.e. he is all amped about NEIPAs, but doesnt know shit about West Coasts, Pale Ales, et al.)

    2) He's the first to show up at every local "scene-ster" beer release in town - and then he post pictures about it.

    3) Calls things by the wrong name. (i.e. We have Pinthouse Pizza in Austin - its badass. He calls it "Pints Pizza" because he's too much of a doofus to get the complete name right).

    4) This is the NextDoor app. Its where you report crimes or get on the same page about when trash pick-up is. It seems dumb to start a craft thread on a platform that'll be read by a bunch of retired teachers & librarians.

    Am I being ridiculous? Possibly.

But after being a craft nerd since before it was cool, I find these newbies to be lame and Im anxious for them to move on to the next trend.

I'm familiar with the app; it's good for reporting missing pets. The only possible good use regarding craft beer I can think of would be to give a list of taps of local watering holes, considering the associated websites are often hopelessly out of date.

I saw a talk by Greg Koch (@ Google?) , in which he said that the perceivable limits are about 5-6 IBU on the low end, & ~80-85 on the high end . Never got around to double-checking that statement.
