Man, those forests look THICK! That island is like a cupcake with evergreen frosting. If y'all make it back this summer, you've got to post some summer shots for comparisons.

Will do. This is called The Santiam Pass. It goes through the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests and is quite the incredible stretch. One things for sure, driving around Oregon is a hell of a lot more beautiful than driving through Orange County!

    Well Hello All.
Not able to partake today. Finalizing report cards. Lucky kids who had me finalizing theirs yesterday when I popped Jade by 18th Street courtesy of @FlintB, followed by a Yellow Rose from The Lone Pint from my new Texas beer friend @r0rschach
Both of these were quite enjoyable. I'll write them up later. But I wish you all well.

Hah! It's a helluvalotmore beautiful than most places. Santiam Pass ... I'm writing that down. Some time over the next 2-5 years I'm heading up to Idaho Falls, ID, to play the two municipal golf courses on which I learned the game, and that trip could turn into a Great Northwest tour.

After a late night run to the grocery store, it's time for some Late Night New American Light Lager Sunday fun ... look at THIS beauty!

    Lone Star Light

After the great American adjunct lager summer of 2017 (when was that Saturday tasting thread? late May? need to research it), I figured I should kick the tires on a few of the light beers so readily available at all times everywhere you look.

Lone Star Light is fantastic compared to Michelob Ultra (what isn't?) and it's no slouch compared to Miller Lite. At 3.85% ABV, I'm an instant fan. There's a lot more grain flavor than I expected, plenty of corn, and the mostly grain/stale grain/sour grain nose has an occasional note of barley malt sweetness in it. The carbonation could scrape paint off a car, and over time it does take on a heavy presence of the "housepaint" note many AALs have ... hard for me to describe it beyond "housepaint" but I think it might be the way the yeast is mixing with those stale grain notes.

    3.5 (+49.6% rDev)

For comparison's sake, my numbers below for:

    Lone Star — 4.03 (+61.2% rDev)
    Miller Lite — 3.73 (+71.1% rDev)
    Michelob Ultra — 1.55 (-17.6% rDev)

... just a triangulation of coordinates exercise. Plus, I like numbers. :nerd::crazy_face::nerd:

    Cheers!

Well it's still Sunday in part of the country so good enough for me! Drinking a North Coast Laguna Baja. Taste like a Negra Modelo on steroids, good stuff.

    Snowpack got me:

Fantastic! I'm a sucker for the grapefruit note, and this one leads off with it in the nose and follows with an RBI double in the first sip. Lots of pineapple in it, too, and the malt sweetness reminds me of fruitcake.

This beer pushed my "Beers" number to 663 here on BA.com. Next week's NBS can easily get me to 665, leaving 666 for the taking come Nov. 26. Maybe? Possibly? I don't like pointing out my dumb review number, because what the hell do you care, right? But c'mon! 666 on 666?!? :scream::scream::scream::scream::scream::scream:

    Have a great week, NBSers!

    Cheers!

Hopefully I'm doing that Fresh IPA pack next week, and it hits my area. Sorry I couldn't join in this week, but I was at a wedding. It was really fun reading along, though.
