Black Friday Bourbon County release

Hoping to score some variants in Southern Maine

 

What's the best bet in the Portland area for Black Friday?

 

Is there a MA or CT specific thread for BCBS day?

Here's how things tend to go in Portland proper:

• Whole Foods tends to put regular out, no-limit, and you may have to ask for variants [if they have any]
• RSVP is finicky and they often hold back on their variants and save them for regulars.
• Friendly Discount Beverage has been known to pre-sell all of their bottles.
• Craft Beer Cellar and Old Port Cigar and Spirits both only got regular last year but I would suspect they will get variants this year given their volume.
• Bow Street Beverage only got regular and sold it earlier in the week before everyone else last year.
• Bier Cellar gets a case or two of variants that go quick.

 

For what it's worth I found regular at Hannaford's in Scarborough and Saco last year..

 

Oh yeah... I forgot, I fully expect to see regular at Hannaford's, Shaws and even 7-11 in town.

 

I wasn't actively looking for it but as I wandered down the chip isle at Hannaford there was a random display, haha. Too good to pass up.

Other Southern Maine places that may have some variants would be Tully's in Wells, The City in Sanford, Cummings' Market in Kennebunk and Madden Beverage in Saco. I have no I idea what these places will actually have but they're probably the best chances at something besides regular.

Maine won't be seeing variants this year. You will see Bourbon County Stout 2017 and Barleywine 2017. Cheers.

 

At least you get BCBBW. Vermont doesn't even get that.

 

Coffee apparently showed up in Maine... and released early, at least at one shop.

 

Sorry, I missed a word, Southern Maine isn’t seeing any variants. Different distributors get different drops.

 

Can you imagine if Disney didn't release The Last Jedi to huge swaths of the country because audiences in those spots didnt buy enough tickets to Beauty and the Beast? I f'ing hate this strategy.

 

I don't think it's about the consumers as much as it's about rewarding loyal accounts. Why give hard to get allocated items to accounts that only buy from you once a year?

 

They dont do that, but they do have a lot of requirements for theaters. If i remember correctly it has to only be shown on a theaters largest screen for at least 4 weeks, which really hurts certain areas where they service a small population and everyone who wants to has seen it in the first week or two.

 

Nice surprise tonight, I had to pickup a shirt ordered at Beervana from Nikki's Liquors and right before I got there they stocked the vintage room with 2013-2015 stout and 2014 barleywine bottles. I'll be in Maine black Friday and at breweries/bars as opposed to lining up at stores, nice to get a few (aged) bottles in advance.
