I’m new to drinking stouts and have had the chance to get some pretty good bottles of Stouts (22oz and larger). Some of these bottles are so strong that it would take me all day to finish consuming them enjoyably, even possibly into the next day. My question is after opening the large bottle, should i let the bottle sit out in room temperature capped or do i cap it and put it in the fridge until pouring my next glass? Looking to keep the quality/taste at its best throughout the day. Thanks guys, cheers!

I decant the rest into 8 oz bottles.

If you plan on finishing it within a few hours, I'd just leave it out uncapped. If you plan on finishing it the next day, put a wine stopper in it and put it back in the fridge. It can be nice to let beers warm up, but don't worry about "best" too much... just do what you like.

Agree with @zid , wine/bottle stopper and consume the rest within 24 hours after opening.

Side note: I once poured a Rasputin in a fresh empty bottle of Blanton's and let it sit over night. It was delicious the following evening.

Once its opened it should be drank as soon as possible. Drink em with a buddy if you can't do it yourself.

I don't save bottles for another day, if I open it it will be finished that night. Find somebody to split it with or knock it out in one night. I just leave mine open at room temperature, stouts are better served at a slightly chilled temp, 50-60. It'll be fine at room temp.

By a bottlecapper and cap it if you want to save it to an other day

Thanks. The intention is to finish it the day of opening it, just wanted to see if keeping it out in room temp is best or sticking it back in the fridge until the next glass since I’ll be casually drinking it throughout the day. I’m sure both ways are really fine, just trying to gauge what most people do to get the best taste out of the stout. From what I’ve noticed so far, i definitely feel the stout tastes better as it warms up.

I usually leave it out after it's been in the fridge so I can experience the beer at a chilled temp and closer to room temp. I usually like the taste of beers better as they warm up.
