Had a growler of the collab tonight. It's very, very good! As one would expect from Kane and Troon.

Too boozy for my tastes but not bad.

I'm usually not one to go crazy for collaboration beers. Imo they get very over hyped, and the flavor profile usually tends to learn toward the host brewery.

But TSSB definitely had alot of Troon DNA in it. Great beer. Worth the ride down to Kane for me. And I live in Troon territory, so it's not a super short jaunt.

I preferred the original Fall Saints to the BA version. I don't think the barrel added much and the underlying flavors weren't as vivid as they were last year. Even Kane can't hit a home run every time.

In need of some growler help. I'm looking to fill a few this upcoming Saturday at Kane and for those of you who have filled and not consumed immediately (within a day or two) after, how long do they hold? Hypothetically, if I have them filled on Saturday, will they still be good on Thanksgiving?

Depends on the growler really. But generally speaking, you'll be fine.

They regularly have 4 pack pint cans of their flagship beers Sneakbox, Head High, and Overhead. The price is the same for 4 pack pint cans or a growler fill so if you want any of those, I would just buy the cans. They may have other one offs available for growler fills that aren't available on cans which is the only reason I'd do growler fills- if you had your heart set on trying something specific not in cans.

I haven't noticed any difference in fall off in growlers of Kane relative to any1 else, but obviously you want to consume as fresh as possible and once opening a growler, drink it quickly. I haven't gotten any growlers filled there in quite some time since they have their main beers available in cans regularly and have the occasional one off can releases on Saturdays.

I typically load up on the regulars when visiting and grab some sticker cans if I'm lucky enough to be there on a release Saturday, but was more interested in filling growlers of the one-offs like you mentioned. The plan would be to open it Thanksgiving and finishing it the same day.

Might be wrong, but I think they were open the Wed before Thanksgiving last year. If you're not too far away, maybe get them filled on Wednesday

Last year they did 3-8pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, closed Thursday, 3-8 Friday, and regular hours on the weekend.

Iirc Kane doesn't counter pressure fill growlers (like OH), so getting growlers Saturday for Thursday...may have some flat beer. Unless you have one of those ridiculous mini keg like growlers that has a co2 attachment.

That would be ideal, but that might cut it close with food prep and increase in traffic volume.

as long as not opened before Thursday, a growler purchased Sunday would be fine on Thursday in my experience.

Like someone said they don't counter pressure like OH, which will keep your growler much longer, but I don't think you will experience much issue keeping that length. If anything maybe just a tad drop off. There are some good non flagships up for fills right now, so if they last through till Sat, you will have some good stuff for Thanksgiving. As mentioned they did open the day b4 last year, had some Sunday Brunch there that day, but I know you said it might be too much to get there!

Held onto a growler (i.e. first batch) of Mexican Brunch for a 1yr.2mts (May 2015-July 2016). From what I recall via notes: some roast-y and smoky undertones remained intact. Nonetheless, the chili, coffee, maple, brown sugar, cacao…took more of a backseat to the very predominate and scrumptious cinnamon tones. I actually recall pulling out more vanilla as well

Now, I’d be lying if I said carbonation remained (fully) intact; however, despite some deterioration, I was pleasantly surprised how well it held up

In essence, you should be fine given a thoroughly clean growler, some tape around the top, and properly stored until consumed. Perhaps aim for a higher abv, when making the selection, and report back on your discoveries

Well said, but now that Kane is opening at 1 on Wednesday, plans have changed. Really appreciate the early opening. I'm sure they'll fill plenty of growlers.
