The Prop I had at FOBAB was very good, one of my favorites of the night. Northwoods was terrible.

 

Sheffield's is probably the only bar that I went to when I was 21 and still go to at 32......and for entirely different reasons.

 

Just looked back and found out the bar was called "Shenanigans" and also sported a stripper pole/cage lol. What a time to be alive.

 

What happened to them? I noticed the windows papered over, but didn't see any details on their social media for the closing. Temporary or permanent?

 

I honestly have no idea. I saw Off Color tweeeted out they were closed the other day.

Does Sheffield's have any variant tappings happening on Black Friday?

 

I can't even figure out what BCBS thread I'm in anymore, but it was posted somewhere about their event on Wednesday, so they'll just have any potential leftovers (most likely regular & BW) on Friday. I have posted at least once in one of these BCBS threads about places doing tappings on Friday as well. If you do an online search for tappings, you will find some information (as well as information about prior years, which can give you hints of where to check this year).

 

Northdown closed.....no way.....

 

Yeah, Northdown has been closed for...I want to say close to half a year now (I'm not sure, but it's been a while). No idea what's going on. I workout across the street from it, and every time I'm at the gym, my eyes wander to those boarded up windows...

I haven't been to Northdown in a while, but a buddy of mine who actually introduced me to the place years ago made a comment that they deserved to close. Apparently customer service took a nose dive and their turnover rate was really high. They never changed the menu and stopped offering daily deals.

Sounds like management gave up on the place. A real shame, I loved going there.

 

The management was always nice to be as a customer, but knowing a few people who have worked there, it was apparently a terrible place to be employed. I did hear a lot of people complain of bad customer service, which could be a result of employees not being treated well.

They hosted some great beer events, and the close was supposed to be permanent, but I have heard a whisper in the wind that it may see a resurgence next year.

 

I've only been a couple times, but selection-wise, it was a great bar, and the workers were nice. A shame if management sucked. Hopefully the workers have moved onto something better.

 

"Consume" in Lake Zurich just posted they will be tapping BCBS 2017, BCBW 2017, Prop 2017, and Reserve 2017 on December 5th

They'll also be getting CBS (12/19) and Abraxas (11/21) for those interested

 

I'm keeping half an eye on that Jewel info page, and I'm finding myself indecisive about whether to try for one of those before rushing over to a Binny's. Primarily, to try and get more Coffee than the 1 (or 2 at Lincoln Park) allowed by Binny's allocation. I hate bananas and Prop doesn't interest me at all this year. In the past I've gone early to a smaller Chicago Binny's and had great luck getting a full allocation, usually home well before 10am too. I've never pushed the envelope as to how late to arrive and still secure all variants, though. I don't really want to miss out on Reserve....

I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me I'm overthinking this and just to go to Lincoln Park this year, try and trade a Prop for another Coffee, and be done with it.

 

You'd be better of going to LP to get that Prop and trading it for 2 Coffee. The hype seems to be full on for Prop and Reserve - perhaps deservedly so, as I haven't had either of them.

 

Anyone know when Fischman's is re- opening? They were fun for Black Friday in years past....

 

Fischmans is opening this weekend I believe.

 

Just to go to Lincoln Park this year, try and trade a Prop for another Coffee, and be done with it.

But be sure to go after whenever I decide to get in line.
