Brass Castle: Helles Lager

 

It was so cold this morning the cat wouldn't go out and the weather made me think of this one . . .





Taste of roasted malt/coffee with a clean finish. Brewer says this is brewed with Vermont Maple syrup and brown sugar but I can't tell if that means before fermentation or is added afterwards. I don't get much in the way of sweetness that those flavorings would add because this brew tastes and finishes rather dry. Columbus and Fuggle hops are used for an IBU of 58 but they're so over layered by the coffeeish malt if I'd been told the IBU was half that I wouldn't have argued.

 

Got to try this Beer and glad I did.. really big body and smooth taste really impressed me!

First stop into More Brewing for yours truly. Some mighty fine beer, they cook.

Strong Hand tallboy, Autumn Sky shorty.

 

A warming stout after burning four miles running in the cold rain and wind. I needed some fast miles in preparation for next weeks Turkey Trot 5k.

It's tasting exquisite in this fancy ass glass that I'm always afraid I'll break. A big thank you shout out to @LarryBell for making this great beer more plentiful than ever! Off to the whirlpool before I catch pneumonia.

 

Having a Kilkenny. First time since at least 20 years I think.

I’m going there every-time I’m in Amsterdam, since @tobelerone mentioned this shop.

They are located at the De Clercqstraat 7, walking distance from the city centre.

Totally agree with the assertions that this is an amped up Celebration. Really tasty with bready malt, some caramel sweetness, and thick hop bite. It is a beautiful beer...

 

This was a sporadic purchase recently but glad I got it
