Grand & Western. Great store if you haven’t been - currently doing 25% off 6 bombers if you want to stock up and random 3F stouts.

There’s a possibility that 7:45 won’t be early enough at Binny’s. It very well may end up being early enough, but with the big increase in LP allocations, there could be bigger and earlier crowds.

Have we gotten any further verification on the prices at Binny's yet?

Also, I've talked a friend into joining me. He lives in Logan Square. Does the area around LP Binny's see a lot of traffic from other Black Friday shoppers doing unimportant non-beer related things at 6-7am? We're trying to decide whether to just meet up there, or start at his place and take an Uber. FWIW, I'm coming in from west burbs.

This is well said. My friends and I go to a suburban binnys near us crazy early, play cards, drink discreetly, and meet some new people. Each year we are shocked at how quickly the time goes. Then we go nap and get together that night to try each of the different variants and each other's left over thanksgiving food. It's basically my favorite tradition.

They've stated they will not 'officially' release prices until the Friday morning. Figure ~250 ± 20 for a full allotment @ LP. Bring cash. Loads & loads of cash.

You can find parking on the streets if you’re willing to walk a few blocks. It won’t be terrible. Not great. But not Saturday night in Lincoln Park terrible.

You would think with all the "my guy tells me X" stories on BA, we'd know a thing or two about bcbs pricing by now.

Really gives me confidence I can believe all those complex stories when one so simple, just a fucking number, can't be had.

It will be on BF. IIRC last year they were late with details.

How are lines at the Binny's that are not LP?

From knowing a guy who knows a guy (who knows a guy?), I've heard $11.99 regular, $14.99 coffee/barleywine, $24.99 prop/northwoods, $25.99 reserve. If so, an LP full allotment is $236 before tax/vintage bottles.

    Prices last year were:

    9.99 Reg
    12.99 BW and Coffee
    22.99 Prop
    40 something Prop 14/VR
    79.99 Rare 15

For this years from the prop day site I saw it said $70 for 2 prop and 1 reserve. I dont think Northwoods would be more than prop since it is seeing distribution.

I'll be grabbing a full allotment, minus the barleywines, from Binny's LP regardless of the price. At this point the price is just a curiosity rather than a barrier.

Are there any other releases as crazy and large as this one at a liquor store where you have people lining up 3 days out? I'm surprised more brewers don't try and have a major flagship release for a beer at one store so it is a major event....

Why do it at a liquor store if you can do it at your brewery? I believe people used to line up overnight for Dinner.

That would be amazing. Maybe if every brewer worth something made you wait in line for 3 days people would stop buying beer and the madness will end and we can all go back to drinking shelfies.

I think its because people are trying to get as many VR/Prop 14 as they can. I dont think it would be as big if they ran out of them but conversely if they had OG Rare, Cherry Rye, OG Vanilla, Bramble, King Henry, ect it would be even larger.

Most other breweries have their major releases at their brewery, which for the really big releases I think having it at a store would work much better for everyone. Mainly I dont think goose island can do it at the tap room or brew pub because of how big this event is.

I think they can, and I think in the next couple years they will. InBev will figure it out. It's literally leaving $ on the table and that's not in their business model. They've explored all sorts of ways to shirk the 3 tier system, I'm sure this is on the list of things to figure out. Probably can't be a massive release, but I think they can figure out something.

I'm wondering if they'll start doing some sort of release at the taproom. I'm sure the money they're making at the "brewhouse" for their BCBS tasting event is pretty good, so they may not want to mess with that portion.

Others have said something similar, but you're assuming the only reason people wait in line is to get the beer being sold. 50,000 people will go sit at a Bears game in freezing weather in December. And half of them will tailgate outside for multiple hours, earlier in the day when it's even colder. You wouldn't compare the time spent by tailgaters to minimum wage, but they're generally doing the same thing - drinking beer, hanging out with friends, setting up some sort of tent, having some food, pissing in a port-a-john when they feel the need. For people who stand in line overnight, it's sort a combination of getting the beer and it being an event. Such as the post below.
