Other Half Brewing November 2017

I am sure it is on someone's radar. Would be an awesome score for owners for sure and hopefully for the loyal, hardworking employees.

Any idea on bottles? Was assuming they'd last until Saturday morning but not I'm not so sure.

That was my check in! Stand by it. Decadent beer to be enjoyed in moderation.

 

I'm highly skeptical of this for two overarching reasons.

First, Other Half's value as a brand is built from a highly committed base of beer fanatics. The fact that people lined up for 12+ hours last week in sub-freezing temperature speaks to that. Generally, the only way to get Other Half cans is to either line up hours in advance, or trade with someone who lined up hours in advance, for an equivalently hyped brewery. The average beer consumer (in particular even a craft beer consumer) is unlikely to have had many Other Half beers. There simply isn't enough nation-wide recognition at a mass consumer level that would validate a sale for Big Beer.

The second is that Other Half has deep ties within the craft brewery scene. How many other breweries regularly produce collabs, not only with other US breweries, but with complete unknown breweries in Europe? We all saw what happened when Wicked Weed sold out. There was a deluge of backlash and they were shunned by the craft community. The same will happen if OH were to follow suit. It would entail the death their collaborations, and as a corollary would hurt their brand value.

 

Plates is on tap. Not sure on the bottle status but I assume those who didn't get cans decided to purchase bottles.

Im not sure how I feel about Florida Plates. Beer is a very loose name for this liquid.

 

Beer fanatics don't line up for 12 hours to drink hype beer. Beer resellers, razzlers, and traders line up for 12 hours.

 

Plenty of snowbird bottle. No line.

 

These are not mutually exclusive terms, although I don't know what a beer "razzler" is.

 

So what are the thoughts on number of cases on Plates? Was on my way over wneh I got the great news.

 

Agree with this assement. I know the term Juice and Dole Pineapple get bandied about, but....

You could probably pull a sick prank on somone, and get them to mix Malibu rum with it....

With that said, I like it a lot, but it is further removed from a traditionally recognized beer, even by NEIPA standards.

 

Any good growler fills up? Haha thanks everyone for letting my lazy ass sit at home thinking hard about walking ten minutes over to the brewery.

 

A midweek release sold out in 2 hours. Wow.

Made it to the brewery around 8..place was packed..picked up bottles of snowbirds..legit coconut stout..reminds me of Finback's Between the Dead..tasty AF..also tried Florida Plates..very underwhelmed..too bitter for my liking..barely finished the small pour i had..glad i didn't get cans of this..my consolation was growlers of DDH Mylar Bags..ill take it
