Managed to stop at Mikerphone a little earlier before my part time job and found out that Saint Errant bottle release will be on Saturday along with taps. Oh well it happens but just thought I'd get that info out to folks who might be going over today like me. Did get a chance to grab a crowler of Bean spirit that they had available and had the Innocent criminal with raspberries, definitely had a shit ton of raspberry. Lip-smacking good.

When I talked with Binny’s LP a couple days ago, they said they wouldn’t be getting Elements, but would special order it for me (which seemed weird).

LiquorPark just got their allotment today if you want a bottle!

Sorry to hear that. I felt bad but double checked their Instagram post and it did say Thursday. So they changed it for some reason

They actually had Elements out yesterday so must have changed their minds

Yeah, increasingly I do not trust what they tell me. They said schlafly BA pumpkin had come and gone, and then I saw plenty on the shelf. Lame sauce.

Finally getting around to cracking my Basic Set. At first I thought it was pretty bland. However, as it warmed a bit, it really opened up and I started getting that dankness and, most importantly, that back end hop bite that I happen to like in the style. More along the lines of the Trillium beers than the Treehouse beers. Fantastic and probably my favorite of their IPAs that I've had (Strange Loops and Expanding Symmetry being the others).

Loved Elements but I'm a sucker for coconut stout. I thought it would be more hazelnut forward based on the description being "Imperial Stout with hazelnuts and coconut" but this is definitely a coconut stout with some hazelnut notes

I am going over to Mikerphone after work this evening and was wondering if anybody knows if the St. Errant Stouts are still on tap.

    Cheers

Thanks for the heads up, also heard there might be some bottles at the Desplaines Binny's as well. I was kind of hoping to take it for a test drive first but will stop in at Mikerphone and see and if not we may have to grab a bottle over the weekend. Thanks again

I saw bottles of both stouts at Binny's on Grand as well.

There are also bottles of the IPAs there, but I don't know if they are new batches or old bottles from the previous batches and one bottle of Strange Loops from the previous batch that I had held onto for like a month, was not very good at the month after point.

I don’t see any Saint Errant stuff here. But I assume you’re already here or been here.

I drank Cheap Thrills last night (my first Saint Errant); I was underwhelmed. Very mild overall, barely any flavor; hints of orange citrus perhaps but not memorable. Also, the mouthfeel seemed very thin. Can't say I'll hunt for them again.

People who've had their earlier IPAs, how does this one stack up in your opinion(s)?

I've had all the IPAs from Saint Errant, Strange Loops, Basic Set, and Expanding Symmetry and liked all of them. When I saw your post I was bummed. I'm finally drinking a Cheap Thrills right now you are right, this sucks. No body/thickness to this at all. Hardly any flavor or aroma. Very much on par with current offerings from Hailstorm. Pretty bummed about this. This is not how Basic Set, Expanding Symmetry, or Strange Loops were at all.

I'll have to give them another chance then...hopefully this was a one time misfire.

    Just read through this thread.

Seems most complaints were quick judgemental thoughts by people who drink their beer too cold. This isn’t macro “pils” that’s been brainwashed to be drank ice cold. What craft focused drinker judges a beer below 50 degrees Fahrenheit nowadays?

Anyways, these guys have been a personal favorite of mine the past few months.

IPA preferness is totally subjective. My personal ranking of theirs is Basic Set < Cheap Thrills < Strange Loops < ExpandingSymmetry, but I prefer a dry balanced finish to my beer.

Not sure if you were referencing my post, but this isn't my first rodeo. I absolutely let the beer warm & it remained bland and lifeless.

Pretty sure my first rodeo had a Valencia orange slice in the glass

Not specifically other than the subjective part. I know everyone’s opinion is radically different. But when someone reads a description of a beer as “bland and lifeless,” there is someone else, myself in this case, who finds the beer quite superb and in constant drinking rotation.

My first rodeo had cowboys, cattle and clowns.
