Heady was number 1 for a long time. I don't remember if mornin delight was, but good morning from tree house hit #1 for a while.

I think before Heady, Westy 12 held the top spot for a while. OP, nice topic, thanks for sharing. I may be wrong but I thought Pliny the Younger possibly and for some strange reason I think Victory’s Storm King stout was #1.

LOL, man how the lists have changed. Look at Todd and Jason over in the left. Too Funny.

So VR, SR71, or MBP never hit #1?
If so it would have been before my BA life.

That's not strange at all, Very few of the top beers today (or their breweries for that matter) were around back than.

Pliny the Elder has to have been up there at #1 at some point in the past.

Storm king did hit #1 a while back. It's a good, but I'm glad we've got better now.

Westy 12 indeed held the top spot for quite some time. Storm King, Dark Lord, Celebrator, Duvel, to name a few, were all #1 at some point but I can't recall in what order or for how long. There were several others, as mentioned already. It would be cool to see a list of the #1 beers in chronological order with the corresponding dates to see how the list has changed over time.

Perhaps, but nobody is asking “What were the last 5 Beer Advocate #2 ranked beers?”

Which is exactly my point. Who lurks out there consistently near the top, but never quite gets that vaunted designation? Those are the beers that I care for most. I stay with Aventinus.

What has been the most/easily obtainable beer? With the way the market is heady will be the last #1 beer I’ll drink. Unless, I find the beer locally before the hype hits.
