It was a busy weekend of 2nd Thanksgiving, 1st and 2nd Thanksgiving leftovers and chores. Made the (hopefully) last sweep of leaves today. Maybe I’ll make one more pass as an excuse for a last yard work beer of the season. Supposed to be in the high 50s later this week.
Cracked this beer courtesy of @smanson56. Thanks!
Canned sometime in September, might’ve waited a tad to long to enjoy. Overripe tropical fruit, citrus, pine dominate the tastes. Slightly more bitter than I expected as is not typical of NEIPA. Some caramel at the finish that I attribute to the age. Still, completely drinkable and enjoyable.

Yikes, that sounds limited then. Crazy thing is I just drove past a Roger Wilco today. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it very much. I'll check around and just may be in touch.

Night cap, had to add this Saxy Machismo. Thank you @Dragginballs76 for this bottle of Saxy Machismo (Apple Brandy and Cinnamon). This is a great beer, just not a traditional Quad.

    Thank you Dragginballs76 for this
750 ml bottle poured into a goblet

A- Brown with ruby red highlights and a small light tan head.

S- Smelled boozy as I poured it but after letting it sit for a minute the nose really opens up. Apple brandy, cinnamon, dark fruits, touch of earthiness, hints of peppers and smoke. Huge nose and balanced.

T- Guajillo and hadanero peppers, cinnamon, dark fruits, some smoke, mildly earthy, apple brandy barrel adds a nice touch to this.

M- Smooth, medium to full body.

O- A good amount of the Quad base is lost to the barrel, peppers and cinnamon, but that’s not a bad thing. It seems like the base is a good Quad and everything added to this does enhance the flavors of this beer.

    Round #3 here folks
Full disclosure, I've had this a couple times (it's local) but it's been a while and I hadn't rated or reviewed. It fits the theme
    [IMG]
    The review:
12oz can bb 12/19/17 poured into a can glass at fridge temp 8.3% ABV 100 IBU. The beer pours bright orange amber in color with khaki head. The head recedes to a thin cap and ring leaving some lacing behind. The aroma is big grapefruit with a little caramel thrown in. The taste is sweetish caramel, pine and citrus rolled up together with an earthy bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. There is some hop oil presence in the finish that keeps it from being truly dry. Overall, very good and maybe the best beer brewed in Evansville.

Now the irony, I know this is dated for best before 90 days. I bought it at the brewery. So here in beer purgatory (southern Indiana/Evansville) our best local brewery brews their best IPA, and it sets for months in their taproom. I did not, however, have to wait in line

Cheers all! Hope we make it to six pages but I'm all out of Devilish new beers.

Only really have time for a second tonight, darned needing to work on Mondays. Anyways, not a NJ beer, but one I've been wanting to try for a while and it just never comes reasonably close to here, at least not on SN's beer finder. Sierra Nevada's Stout. One of those you just wish was more readily available, but know that because it's not flashy it probably doesn't sell in enough volume. Ah well, it's a damned solid beer.

Pours a solid, dark brown color with a slightly off-white head that clings nicely to the glass and leaves plenty of lacing behind. Smell is coffee, cocoa, and a little hop pine. Taste is simple, blonde coffee, wheat bread, cola, cocoa, and a little bit of earth towards the finish. Medium body, low carbonation. Simple is nice, easy drinking stout with plenty of flavor. Wish it was more regularly in my area.

Greetings all, hope you're well, many thanks to @lordofthewiens for a great intro and to @cavedave for some excellent words of context.

While the thread is premised on a new beer (with review), I'll offer Pure Project Fleetwood. A very interesting hop bill, and a beer that I enjoyed for the first half, but found the back half more effort (perhaps a bit harsh) than enjoyment. Felt like the sweet melon aspects were fighting with the citrus, bitter, dry aspects. Complete rating link, BA score = 3.9, rdev = -0.8%

Onto the 'theme' of this NBS, I offer a Stone beer. While not a new beer for me per se, it's a first review and checks most every other boxes for today's thread. I'd debated about opening a Mikhail, to 'scratch that itch' of Stone not releasing IRS (on an odd year no less) nor several other of my favorite higher ABV recipes. Ugh, replaced by several more IPAs...yawn. But no matter my angst against Stone pushing IPAs over classics, I'll offer one of my favorites from the Vertical Epic series, 06.06.06.

Recipe targets a Belgian Dark Strong Ale, this now has over 11 years of age. Nose was surprisingly very dynamic given the age. Dark cherries, leather, oak, some subtle dark chocolate as it warmed. While the taste followed an excellent nose, it was much more subdued. Thinner mouthfeel and limited carbonation. Original rating during a Vertical Epic tasting was 4.0, complete review link, BA score rating = 4.01, rdev +1.0%

Nice review. I literally had that in my hands today, but got the Tonewood Porter instead. For Cape May I went with the White Cap DIPA because it was super fresh.

Sadly, I won't be getting to either tonight. Who knows about next week, though.

One more new one for the night, though not a devilish brew. Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw. This and the Track 8 I had earlier were both purchased at a time when I enjoyed Belgians much more than I do now.

Bottled 5/8/15, but does that mean August? Doubt it matters. English text on the back proclaims it to be the Grand Cru of the Emperor.

Pours swampy brown, hazy with a few floaties. Golden edges when held to the light. Slightly yellowish-brown cap leaves behind thick lines of lace.

Smells of Belgian yeastiness, toffee, brown bread, dark stone fruit.

Taste follows. Brown bread, toffee sweetness, fruitiness, booze. Surprisingly boozy, actually.

Not my style any more. Glad to have one less bsda in the closet.

On this pitch black night, I say good evening once again as I offer another sacrifice for New Blasphemer Sunday. The Duvel was clearly upset with me and hence cursed me with an act of desecration, so now I ask forgiveness. I've called upon the help of a man so devious and maniacal, as I was sure he would know how to please the Dark Lord. Yup... @joe1510 .

    New Glarus
    Cran-bic 2016-
    Cranberry Lambic

Cran-bic pours a lavish deep pink from the bottle. It fills the glass spritzy and lively with light pink bubbles which form to make a fizzy and foamy white cap on top of a rusted red liquid below.

Cranberry cider, ginger, and lemon tingle the nostrils. It smells divine. Light traces of oak and acid linger.

Perfection. A tart rush of cranberry and lemon, a dash of ginger zest, and subtle wood mingle together in harmony.

Light enough to stay crisp, not too tart, definitely not too sweet, and just the right suggestion of bitterness to maintain balance, Cran-bic is superbly drinkable. This begs to be sipped again and again, like a cider with Thanksgiving dinner.

The label itself gave me the impression that this was something special. The pop of the cap and the initial aroma made me know so. The flavor and feel made me smile like a kid who just got the best gift imaginable. This is truly one of a kind. An amazing beverage that, even if age improves it more so, I couldn't care less. This was bliss. Thank you Joe, very, very much.

Definitely the work of The Devil. Cheers!

After my official review, I gave this a rating of 4.82 with an rDev of +13.4%. And I sure as hell am sticking to that!

    New Beast Mode Sunday

Tonight’s “new” beer comes from none other than the devilishly charming Prince of Darkness himself @LeperJim Other than trying some old Bud collectors cans before, this represents the oldest beer I have tried.

I am not going to do an official review of this because of the age, and because it almost certainly has not aged to what I would think is anywhere close to perfection.

There isn’t nearly as much debris and sediment as I would have guessed, but there is still some sludge on the cap and the bottom of the bottle. Not much carbonation left and with my intentionally super gentle pour, virtually no head at all. 3

It smells...like soy sauce. It’s hard to notice much else, but there is a little bit of dates/sour red grapes, and some candied or caramelized sugar. Let’s go with a 2.5

Surprise. It tastes like soy sauce. Albeit a spiked one. Very noticeable alcohol with some bite. However, combined with some more distinct flavors of sour dates and raisins, it strikes me as a sherry like liquor. There is some caramelized brown sugar and molasses and a shockingly noticeable hop presence. It is what I would call very ok in context given the prominent soy sauce overtone. 3

The body has a bit of an alcohol bite and is flat and medium consistency otherwise. 2.75

This is almost consumable overall. Almost. I would definitely be interested to try a fresher version as it seems to have a lot of potential. In its currnt condition? A low 3

    Thanks for the experiment Jim.

Good evening, all. Tonight ‘s new beer is another one I brought back from Montreal, Les Grands Bois Saison De Minuit. It’s dark, so I’m hoping that, coupled with a Duvel glass and some flames in the background, are an adequate tribute to today’s 666 theme. Here’s the beer-

    3.83/5 rDev -2.8%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Look- pitch black with a 3 finger, frothy, light-brown head

Aroma- Cocoa, coffee, char, faint bubblegum. Almost like a porter but for the bubble gum.

Taste- follows the nose, but the bubblegum becomes more obvious. Finishes bitter from the char taste

Feel- light to medium bodied, light carbonation

Overall- Tastes to me like a porter/saison hybrid and while interesting, I can't say it's a combination I want to try again

Moderate pour yields a half inch tan head over a near black body with scant lacing at first, which is gone in a couple minutes with the head gone in a couple more minutes. Nose of roasted malts, cocoa, spice, and coffee. Taste mirrors nose with the added flavor of caramel. As it warms somewhat, a bit of fudge flavor is apparent. Nice feel and overall another nice Bomb! from Oklahoma. Cheers!
