I really enjoy the regular VaS so i had high hopes for this beer and it doesn’t disappoint! This is phenomenal! The barrel adds some sweetness in the nose and the taste, but i can really taste the base beer as well. Very similar to KBS in my humble opinion.

Kim visited LI last weekend and brought me home a growler of their Pale Ale. Good brew. First time I ever heard of them. Thanks for the info!

Jameson neat, water back. For medicinal purposes. Sleep aid. Whatever.

Calling @vabeerguy: I bought a four-pack this afternoon. Red wine. In cans. If you haven't seen the Infinite Monkey Theorem canned wines, check them out. I got a can of the Red as a wine club giveaway, and I thought it was excellent. As ever, YMMV.

I’m not ready for bed (or Depends) just quite yet, so another beer, and off to the kitchen to rustle up a snack:

I, too, like cheap, and it is a great price for what they deliver...I hope it is still on the shelves after the current feeding frenzy subsides...and my credit card cools off...

Amazing pale ale as always. Got a fresh pack last weekend. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread malts; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body. Balanced sticky hops and bready malt creaminess in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous, increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very bright/juicy on hops and pretty dank. Balanced malts without being too sweet. Insanely easy drinking. A top favorite pale ale.

Always excellent, one of my favorite classic tasting Midwest IPAs. Flavors of bright/juicy grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt balance; and floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy bitterness on the finish. Balanced sticky/resinous hops and bready malt creaminess in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Touch of lingering rind. Chinook, Cascade, Centennial. Can't go wrong with those hops. Great malt balance without being overly sweet. Will be keeping it my IPA rotation more often than I was earlier in the year.

Awesome batch last year, still tasting delicious! Over a year old now. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, black cherry, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, and herbal/floral hops. Light-moderate herbal hop/roast bitterness and light fruit tartness on the finish; with a nicely balanced bittersweet finish with tart cherry/charred flavors. Lightly increasing roast/charred dryness. Medium-full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; some sticky/chalkiness from hop/roasted notes. This is a lot less aggressively roasty/charred on the bitterness than the 2015 batch I had re-reviewed way back. I bet the much larger 9.2% ABV has a lot to do with that though. Grabbed more lingering singles off the shelf recently, after loving the BBA version. Will keep grabbing both while I still can.

Fantastic Russian Imperial stout! Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, smoke, charcoal, and licorice; with moderate herbal, leather, tobacco, and piney earthy hop notes. Bit of cherry/dark fruit notes. Moderate roast/char and herbal/pine hop bitterness on the finish. Fairly full bodied; balanced bready malt creaminess, hop stickiness, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/char dryness; never acrid or astringent. Very smooth, minimal warming ABV. I revisited this review in 2015 with a 2.5 YO bottle. This is prime time after 2 years for me; but as it stands right now, still a pristine example of the style. Need to grab a 6 pack to throw in the cellar. I have just been grabbing singles that are around. I am sure I will run across a pack eventually.

A very hot very fresh Bcbs. Usually I age them a bit, but there's no reason to do so now. There's plenty of barrel on this one.
its a great beer, nicely bitter, balanced, a touch of orange. Love Centennial hops.

I thought it was going to be year round. I know they were going to make their imperial stout year round, which was barrel aged. I thought this was the one.
