Highly Anticipated Releases

Got my CBS bottle today, and Revision Planetary Fog cans yesterday. Quite happy, no lines or truck chasing.

 

Need to get my hands on some TG KBBS. Hoping they increase production to the point it is no longer in unobtanium bottles sealed with unicorn hair.

 

You put your name into their lottery. If you are one of the selected, you have to go to the brewery taproom at a specific time to pick some up. I'm considering going for it next year since it's only about a four hour drive from here.

 

Why not put your name in, and if you win then make a beercation out of it, hitting a few other breweries.

 

I'm also really, really excited about CBS. Possibly the most excited I've ever been about a beer release. The beer store I work at is supposed to get some tomorrow.

This Advocate is definitely excited to score his CBS here in Houston (not hitting stores till next week).

To answer the question - I get pretty amped for Jester King releases. Houston to Austin is about 3hrs away. Thus, my trips there are often planned and rarely spontaneous. Consequently, I always hope for a solid release on a weekend Im going and that doesnt always happen.

 

I get excited every year for Anchor's Our Special Ale. This year's is awesome!

Someone tweeted a picture of their plane ticket from Belgium to attend the KBBS release a couple of years ago IIRC. To each their own. I live 2 hours from TG and didn't even enter.

 

I've been trying to get special beers, casually, for several years. Just never scored. I wasn't going to camp out or anything but would get to the shop and see what/what. Was always a day late/dollar short.

Managed to make it today. I walked in (right after 2 pimps looking for "Henny") and she asked me "Can I help you find something?"

I said "I may be late but..." (it was 1300)

She looks at me and goes - "I have 4 bottles left, 1 limit". She knew exactly what I was looking for without even getting the words out. Good place this one and I should really shop there more than once every 3 weeks or so.

Hot damn, grabbed my bottle and happily paid.

Other 3 were gone before I made it 7 feet to the door.

My uncle who lives in CA - he's been trying to score too without any crazy efforts but solid ones. He managed a bottle today as well.

We're both happy.

 

I was looking forward to obtaining at least one bottle of CBS but missed out on the two bottle shops near me that got allocations. Both stores told me they received two cases each and they did not hold any but I doubt their stories.
I was able to score two bottles of Black Note Stout that's never hit distribution in my area.
Looking forward to getting some Scotch Parabola as I plan on visiting Firestone that day.
