I actually have fooled so many of you into thinking I’m employed. I go down to the Loop everyday and just walk between Binny’s on Grand, Warehouse and Printer’s Row. It gets rough in the winter, but I have all these stouts to keep me warm.

I’ve even gone so far as to get an ID for the building I “work” in, and tell my wife I go there everyday. It’s not easy, but I can’t miss out on my beers.

Did they finally restock the neck label-less 2015 regular they were selling last fall?

so here's the thing, if you want to see a change, you'd probably have to bitch to whole foods
like goose island probably knows alot of people get pissed when they over supply other areas vs chicago land *cough* inbev.
However, for whole foods this looks bad not only for whoever set this up but the specific store itself. like, i don't want to get all legal but technically you could argue this falls under bait and switch

Bait & switch? Please. There were no gurantees on their web page. Having an employee being able to purchase one variant seems perfectly reasonable to me. People who are likely to 'bitch' to corporate WF about this are more than likely those who already have a Prop & are just looking to hoard more anyway.

This thread is the best. It even bleeds over into other threads at times, inflating the entertainment value there for brief amounts of time. Thanks everyone.

obviously an over the top assertion, it just looks poorly on the employees there

Does it tho? There's not a single person on this thread that wouldn't do the same thing if they were working at whole foods.

Yeah I mean, I would think it's one of the perks of the job. When I heard six reserves, 18 props, and 18 northwoods at lakeview this morning I assumed they were keeping back six allocations figuring that you don't really receive half cases of this stuff. Given the head guy there showed up at 430 am easily, to deal with the impending doom and do so in a very orderly manner I've got no issue w/him taking care of himself and his employees who also probably showed up early to help.

As long as they're transparent about it from the outset - hey I've only got X of each variant...which they were two hours before the release and for anyone new that showed up.

One store, sure, but I didn't feel bad about them holding stuff back for themselves.

lol I don't mean they're bad people, no. If I was given the opportunity I would take it, I'd just feel bad about it.

I mean it should be a policy on special release things that you cannot consume over a certain percentage (or any for that matter) of the available stock. It's a good thing its just beer, cause if this were some fucking iPhone or something and we were those people, people would be stomping each other the fuck out

I didn't take it that you thought they were bad people. Honestly if you have a hook up/perk/bonus or anything on things through a job or people you know take the opportunity and don't ever feel bad about it. We all work far too hard in life and once in a while it's not to be able to get something without having to pay insane rates or stand in insane lines for it. Maybe it's just me but I'll never think poorly of anybody on that. You don't get paid that much working at a grocery store and it's really hard work so let them have their little moment of glory.

Amen. I will never, ever begrudge someone working at retail taking whatever perks they can. Doubly so when they have to deal with beer nerd dipshits like us.

I used to work retail, and we weren't allowed to buy the big releases the day they were released if we were on the clock. Sometimes we weren't even allowed to buy them from the store we worked at, at all. I ran into more than one customer who was stunned and a little disgusted that our store wouldn't let us have this stuff, when all the rabid, ungrateful customers could have it.

My main point is, if you have the opportunity, I don't blame you, and it seems like most of the fairer-minded people in this forum wouldn't blame you either.

Nope, that's not it. It's either pay higher prices or wait in longer lines. You can't post the rules publicly and tell people the allotments if you're going to try and "spread the love."

I'm as liberal as anyone I know, but there's no way I think the beer should get re-allocated because a bunch of people showed up. If they want to base allocations # of people in line (as Vav originally did at LP Binny's) that's fine, but they've got to be up front about that.

If you want a "fair and democratic" beer release, look to how Bottles and Cans does their BCS release or how Founders does a ticketed release.

Otherwise, I'm finding the places where the allotment is known so I know exactly what I'm waiting for. I've got an ice shanty, a space heater and no day job. Bring it, nerds!

I really have no problem with holding stuff for regulars. It might sting if it happens right in front of you, but I think it's perfectly reasonable to reward people who consistently frequent your business.

This is how all high demand releases which requiring lining up should be. Give a disclaimer in advance that they reserve the right to amend limits based on turnout. Most equitable approach for line releases imo.
