I don't get it. Is this legit? Rip off someones IP and you get free tickets to the super bowl?

The alternative is Modist gets a formal cease and desist from AB InBev, likely complains publicly that its fun is being ruined by the big guy, and the beer community retaliates.

Every time a lawsuit gets filed in the beer realm, or a cease and desist issues, the filing/sending party receives extreme blowback.

AB InBev, to its credit, made a genius move here. Not only did it achieve the intended legal effect (shutting down Modist's use of the mark in the future, and requiring confirmation of compliance), but it generated some favorable publicity through the gifting of the Super Bowl tickets.

 

I was there when that happened, and it was fantastic. Even the employees running the bar were laughing their asses off. Apparently the guy is one of the Bud reps for the city.

 

Nicely articulated and with the Super bowl just blocks away from this brewery it is a great PR move by AB.

OK, which local brewery is going to step up with their "Dumb Bud Light"? There's Super Bowl tickets to be had people!

 

That was a surprisingly cool and classy move by AB. Cease and desists are part of the business (for better or worse) and this was a way to have fun with a silly thing. Whoever dreamt that up should get a promotion.

 

Is Modist Dilly Dilly a Sisyphusean parody of Bud Light or its marketing campaign (i.e., an exaggerated imitation for comic effect)? Where's the humor, other than in the underlying catch phrase itself? It seems to me like simple appropriation of another company's slogan to sell a (somewhat) similar product.

 

I had a feeling CBS was going to be a has been to me. Just too bitter. Reminds me too much of KBS which I havent cared for in years. Stouts have just gone a long way since CBS was first brewed.

Hmmm. Sure. Middle of the road, 2nd tier beer with a hefty price tag.

Guess this isn't the place to discuss this though. Oh well, onto the next.
