What beer are you drinking now? #1868

Anchor coffee porter

Now this is a dilemma.
I hate coffee.
That said, I appreciate it's value and flavor in beer.
Anchor actually calls their beer, "coffee porter" and refer to it as an American Porter. Miskatonic merely calls it a porter, but refers to it as an proper British porter.
I get way more roast coffee bean influence in the Antsy Prole, both in aroma and taste, than I do in Anchor's Coffee Porter.
The dilemma I have is my dislike for coffee.
Is the coffee porter (Anchor) better because I like less coffee.
Or is the British porter(Miskatonic) better because it includes a coffee aroma/flavor without boasting.

The mouthfeel wins it for me. Miskatonic is more full, although still medium. That in itself is an interesting dilemma: I find coffee to be merely warm flavored water. Is it more like coffee to be a thinner beer?

In general, I guess for me, flavor requires substance, feel, something more than an aromatic reference.

Have made 'em*. Just haven't felt the urge to photograph. Been trying to whittle down the files. (Pre-eye-surgery, I took way more extras, just in case wasn't seeing 'em right. ; ) )

One of the last beers I was holding from a generous BA named @jdell15 as part of NBS BIF God Knows What Number. It's finally December, so time to crack it open. Thank you, Jake. A little heavy on the spices to my taste, but I appreciate the opportunity.

 

You should have opted for the Cassian ! The Cherry is the weak link in their BA series imo

The people in Iowa are wonderful. The scenery not so much if you are used to the Atlantic Ocean nearby. You are land locked in the middle, but if you are good with that, I highly recommend it. West Des Moines is fairly up scale and progressive, so you will not feel that you are in the sticks. Unless you drive 20 miles farther west.

 

Maybe visit first. It will be an adjustment, but you will quickly fit in if you like Silent Bob and black metal.

 

My impression of the mocha in Stone's Mocha Ipa , was that of a different hop, from the bitterness of the chocolate. Maybe if you think of it that way, you'll feel better, & just enjoy it. I.e., DON'T WORRY, it's just another beer.

I got one for $14.00 on the BCBS. At that price, one was enough. Was too lazy to go take my chances in Missouri
