With the unrivaled, long-lusted form that is CBS finally being packaged and distributed, I, unusually, found myself cynically and apathetically nonplussed. I simply don’t have the energy to go out of my way to acquire it. Or even the time to do so. If I happen to stumble across it, I’ll bite readily.

The only thing I’ve asked of my local craft brew store (or of anyone in general) is to restock the 16oz Speedway Stout cans. That’s all I need.

I’m tired of hunting and anxiously anticipating. Who’s with me.

For now, me too. Depends on what's next that hits my area. There are so many great beers out there that are not distributed nationwide. If some of them started to be distributed here then I'd be "hunting" again

I am done with lusting after all the hard to get beers, and chasing them down. Part of it is I have totally lost my FOMO. Part of it is eventually getting to taste almost all of them with either my friends in my tasting group or at bottle shares I attend. Part of it is there are easier to get beers that are just as tasty nowadays.

I plan/need to, for a while anyway. I buy more than I drink, have started to favor new singles and locals, yet can't help buying favorite and cult stouts when they come out in their annual rotation. I have over 8 months worth in my cellar, mostly high-ABV BA stouts. I won't step up my drinking from my current 5-7 per week, so I need to force myself to stop buying and realize I'll miss some releases.

Best part of building up a nice cellar is drinking it down. I have got mine under 200 bottles and it has been a fun task. Highly recommend it.

Certainly will be nice to take a break from doing reviews!

Me too i am not so hot to trot anymore. I saw the CBs, I saw the bourbon county stout and I walked on by. I am starting to leave reviewing too and becoming more of a drinker and not so much a reviewer instead. I AM hot to trot over food and beer pairing though and i am excited about this month as I have noticed all the "white" or winter IPA's.

Beer, no. The only thing I'm hunting is a certain young blonde (she's barely 50) who has been casting her bright blue eyes in my direction.

The nearest halfway decent bottle shop is 40 minutes from my house so I don't really hunt stuff down anymore. I just don't have it in me to drive 1.5 hour round trip to maybe have a chance at getting CBS (or whatever else)

Sure, it's still fun. Though I don't have as much time to do it anymore. CBS and BCBS were easy to get this year, especially with the fast flow of information on social media. I didn't have to go out of my way at all to get them. So that's cool.

Still, so much more fun to me is the random find. That hidden gem on the shelf when you're not expecting it.

I've always found the hunt kinda fun as long as you have the time. Not talking about standing in long lines outside in the cold though for a particular BA stout....there are so many easy to get comparable ones with alot less effort. My cellar is currently <10bottles total so I'd love to see 1-2 bottles of CBS as an addition in there (never had it yet). Called a few bottle shops in the area to see whether they'll be getting any, and either got cluelessness or the run-around. No commitments, no clarity from anyone at all. Was told to "check back on Wed. that's the weekly distribution day". That is best intel I got.

If I come across it, fine. I don't really go out of my way any more. Plenty of other good beers to squander my budget on....

Used to spend time and energy hunting, but found it frustrating and often unfruitful. If I run into CBS, I won't hesitate but no hunting. Too many good beers on the shelfs these days. And CBS at $25, yea OK I'll pay it! Lol

I've never stood in line for a beer release but I have gone store to store looking for something in particular. I haven't done that in months, though, and with my drastic reduction in beer intake and palate shift I don't see those days coming back anytime soon.

I have also found in a lot of cases a solid standby like a good Pilsner is just as if not more satisfying to me than the next hot new IPA/DIPA that are all starting to taste the same to me anymore.

For me it's related to price as much as anything. When I can find easy to get beers I like just as much on the shelf for reasonable prices I can't justify spending $25 for a 750 I won't like much if any better than a beer I can get 12 of for the same price.

BCBS is the worst in this regard. Used to be 19.99ish for a four pack which was pretty high but reasonable for one of my favorite beers. Now I don't even think of spending $16 or whatever for a single 500mL, it's insanity.

    Best answer ever.

I'm exactly with @cavedave on the losing my fear of missing out. My fridge stays full of fantastic beer year round now, and that's just from buying at my normal routine spots. I live close enough to Houston and Austin (and Jester King and their bottle shop:wink:) that it's never a problem stocking up with whatever styles I'm in the mood for.

Jester King's Atrial Rubicite is the only thing I'll continue to "hunt" at this point, but that's becoming a fun annual pilgrimage for me, so what might look like a bit of trouble to some is an absolute blast for me. And the deal with that beer is if I can't get over there for this year's release, I'll wait til next year ... or whenever. No FOMO, man. Life's too short.

Never been much of a chaser, did score a CBS, but I won’t travel or stand in line for hours for a special release
