lol. there was a time when people were unsure & almost took Biff posts & outrage seriously. i remember.

not that anybody probably cares or is here for anything more than shits & giggles but from their basic overview, i don't see Red Robin advertising itself as a "craft beer" destination. it's like maybe someone misread 'caraft' beer & ran with: "It said CRAFT".

the beer list quoted pretty much matches their generic, (no exact location selected), "on-line" beer menu. looks like their beer menu make-up is based a nationwide or multi-regional distro scheme. the beers they listed probably are accessible across all, most or multiple regions. doing it that way allows them to sort of standardize the menu so it holds up for all/most of their franchise locations. makes sense.

Ugh, how do you patronize a place like that?

Amazing what you can get for $15 burgers and $10 pours.

I don't know. The last time I was in a Red Robin a couple of years ago (in Roanoke) they had 3 locals on.

I know, right? If this place was any closer to me than it is I would be fifty pounds heavier. And broke.

Corporate chain restaurant. Their target audience is suburbanites with maxed out credit cards and a minivan full of shit they just bought and don't need.

I've never been to a 5 Guys that served any beer, let alone craft options. Their website menu doesn't show beer as a beverage option.

Pretty sure cavedave is implying he schleps the food back to his place and just drinks his own at home

Perhaps that's what he meant, but the way he wrote his post it reads as if he gets beer at 5 Guys too.

I used to really love their burgers, but they’ve started to skimp on the size. The only thing that passes for craft, is a Sam Adams seasonal

You need to review the posting history of our good friend Biff.

This is because no 5 Guys serves beer, a fact I assumed was widely enough known for the humorous wording to work. Apparently not for everyone.

When I am traveling someplace new, I will post in the appropriate regional thread here on BA for suggestions of good restaurants with great tap lists. I always get a few winners. Helps me stay away from chains.

I was at a Red Robin here over the summer - been to that one a few times here and there. While it's not the best burger ever, it's above average, and they're good with kids stuff (which is a major plus when wrangling a 2-year-old.) The beer list at the time was more than passable - I wasn't getting any of the top 250 list, but I'm not expecting to. They had some decent local beers on, along with the usual BMC + megacraft suspects. If I want a top-shelf beer experience, I know of other places to go. If I want a family-friendly place that I can get something decent to drink - and yes, I consider the Lag. IPA or SABL as decent - I don't mind Red Robin. They are also really good with allergies, and since I've ended up there a bunch with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, who each have a medical journal worth of issues, I rate them higher still.
However, if they are indeed going to a uniform beer list as someone above said, they may get downgraded a tick, depending on what they have. If they have SNPA, I'll gladly drink that all night.

Sure, it’s a chain....but still pretty good. I have a lot of great family memories there.

I’ll take a Whiskey River BBQ Burger and a glass of cold beer anytime. Simple pleasures....

I went there a year or so ago. It wasn't bad, but there wasn't anything good about it. I can get a better burger at a 100 places around here

I agree - they're not awful ... I mean I'd eat that over a Mcdonalds or Burger King burger, but I've had some bad experiences at Red Robin so Im biased against it.

When I lived in Michigan there was a RR about five minutes away. We probably ate there once a month or so because our kids really liked it. Things may be different now, but back then they had Bell's, Founders, New Holland, and a rotating MI tap (mostly Shorts), in addition to SABL and SNPA. I haven't been to one since we moved, so can't really comment on the current state of affairs, but I was pleasantly surprised with the variety that particular location had.
