Parable's facebook page had had some recent action, referring to a 4.5% milk stout with maple syrup as their "3rd batch". Nothing about opening. Anyone privy to more info?

All I know he's still brewing and just getting recipes nailed down.

This whole scenario has been kind of strange. They opened that nice new tap room as "Top Shelf" then closed to re-open as Parable, but it seems like it is taking an awfully long time to re-open? No?

True, It's been so long I forgot all about it, since the OP is from Mass, I figured it was in reference to a new Mass brewery.

Edit: I just checked out their FB page, looks like they're getting close at least.

Has been slow, but this is one Ive kept on the radar as Jon can certainly make some fine beers. I fully expect the final product to be worth the wait!

In this case "they" are not the same people. Top Shelf closed. The Top Shelf folks have nothing to do with Parable. Jon has gotten a bunch of new equipment and yes it has taken a while. No idea why, but I wish him the best. When he's on he's one of the best in CT!

Yep, important distinction to make. These guys are NOT Top Shelf. This is Jon, the original brewer of Steady Habit. He was making the best IPAs and stouts in CT before he left that place. My thought is that they want to make sure everything is just right at Parable before they open to the public. And I can't wait.

I was told that it was more due to piss poor planning. And that the head Brewer "just brews the beer". At least those were his words when issues came up during installation of "his equipment" that needed answers.

Between what I heard from a contractor and the piss poor QC on the cans that I received from steady habit I'll be waiting to try this place out.

He may be head Brewer but is not an owner afaik could have done more during construction from what I hear.

I hope that things go well since I live close by.

Jon made some good beers at SH but also had more than a few that were raw and unrefined. Hope he is successful with the new endeavor and that he has improved the customer service component.

I would argue that Matt W. and Nebco were still the best in the state at that time.

Picked up a four-pack of Coalesce from Harvest this past weekend and the beer smelled and tasted extremely vegetal - like uncooked squash. The hoppy component to the beer just tasted old. Really old actually. Luckily, the owner let me return the beer.

Jon has nothing to do with this beer. Not fair to compare. That being said, this batch of Coalesce didn't have any Nelson in it due to availability if I remember correctly.

I guess/hope that's the point he is making. Coalesce was my favorite beer. Will always pass on Steady Habit cans of that beer. Won't be the same...no way.

Agreed, just want to make sure it is clear the new Steady Habit is not what Jon developed. I will admit I was surprised to see the use of Coalesce odd since they seem to have moved to newer branding (i.e. no Geek Nip, Boots, etc). Agreed, the best batches of Coalesce were out of the park!

No I'm sure that the batch of cans that he put out that tasted like band-aid was far worse.

Again, wasn't that first run of cans due to a mechanical error on the part of the mobile canning operator? I'm just checking if my memory is right. I never had a bad beer from Jon's era of SH.

I didn't know Coalesce was canned during Jon's time. I think it just got canned recently.

He released it without inspecting clearly. Could have cracked a couple of cans.

Having had the batch of Coalesce cans from Jon's run, I sure hope this beer is nothing similar. You forgot "sticky use" in front of the band aid.

But Coalesce when brewed properly and growlered was a lovely thing. One of the best beers in the state at that point.
