I was at the Champps Anniv party in Milwaukee on Saturday. We had pours of CBS, Black Note, Black Gold 16 and 17, Northwoods, Bells BA 30th, Coffee Rum King, and Regular BC. I think almost everyone at our table liked the regular bourbon county best or put it right up there as one of their tops.

Point being, tt's easier to get then most brewery only, limited release stouts that don't even taste as good.

Regular is good, but it doesn't even taste rare this year.

Same. Had a few sips of BG 17 followed by regular BC, and was shocked how well BC held its own. This year’s has that mashmallow for days thing going on. It’s so good.

What are your thoughts on BA 30th? That is the one local beer I’ve had on tap (once) that I would love to see bottled. Would be interesting having it along side those other great beers.

One of my favorites from the day... I liked it better then Black Note. A little more heat to it but I don't mind that.

Did Barrel Aged 30th Anniversary ever get bottled?

No, it has been on tap a few times, now that I think of it, I’ve had it twice, once at Bells and once at a local restaurant. Kegs are scarce around here. Would much rather have BA 30th than BA Expo or BN. Top 5 for me.

I loved the "regular" version of 30th, so I'd give up a kidney for the barrel aged version.

With that said, over the weekend I had a lot of big stouts...CBS, Fremont Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Star, Epic Triple Barrel Baptist...and the best of the bunch was the recent batch of Barrel Aged Expedition. I think that's a truly special beer.

Similar thoughts from me (maybe not quite a kidney though). Seeing it be tapped in Milwaukee makes me a bit jealous. With Larry’s connection to Chicago, why don’t we get a keg or two? And yes, I’m aware that may come off as being a greedy Chicagoan. :flushed:

BA Expo is definitely exceptional. I can only dream that next year it will be just as good as this year AND somehow, they can reverse the quantities of BA Expo to Blacknote.

Maybe odd question, but has anyone had a Barleywine and got sick after? I sipped on a Barleywine for maybe an hour or so yesterday and the only thing I ate during/after was some pizza from the Hut'. Ended up throwing up about an hour later. I know the immediate response is to clown on the pizza but my stomach was upset before that; I had assumed it was because I hadn't eaten anything. I sort half ass searched the thread and didn't find anything so maybe it was the pizza.

Definitely an odd question. I would say that one bottle of BW probably isn't making you sick. The body can do strange things. Perhaps your stomach was off already somewhat (and you didn't even notice), and the combination of greasy pizza and a BA beer didn't help, thus leading to being sick. I wouldn't blame it individually on the pizza or the beer. My guess is you could have each of them independently many times, and even together, and not have any issues.

And yes...eat some better pizza! Although I do admit to enjoying Pizza Hut on a rare occasion every few years.

I had my only bottle of 2017 Regular last night, and I have to admit, you guys weren't joking about how good this year's was. It's probably the best I've had, and before this I was holding 2014 to a pretty high standard. It's got the sweetness of 2014, but more of the complexity that I love from Bourbon County. Had a bottle of 2016 last week, and I think 2017 is much better (in a "better, best" sort of way).

I'll definitely be grabbing another bottle or 2.

So now that Black Friday is a few weeks behind us let's get down to the real question: What do you think will be the order of bourbon county on tap at the UC for the Bulls playoff run this season? My guess is BCBS-> BCBCS -> Northwoods -> Prop (with a surprise appearance of Reserve in game 7 of the 'ship)

They should tap everything if they hit 10 wins this season.

They should probably consider this later in the regular season if things continue going the way they are. It could be the only way to get people in the stadium.

Each Bulls player should be forced to drink 16oz of the scotch variant every time they lose.
