Hold on to your hats! In addition to bragging rights, there will be a valuable prize sent to the winner...

That's right. Blichmann Engineering Size Medium Premium Brewing Gloves. Never used!

I got these as a prize God knows how many years ago. Paying it forward! (And cleaning out the basement.)

(Entries due by 30 November. PM me for the address.)

Unfortunately in the same boat. My yeast choice was already my 1 other ingredient, but when I went to my LHBS to get grain, they were out of a certain approved grain and, in my absent-mindedness, I substituted in a grain that isn't allowed. Beer turned out pretty good, too

Actually the same kind of thing happened to me. I figured if I didn't use an additional ingredient it would still be OK ( my discretion was no extra ingredient...). Hope that means I am still allowed to participate. Yeast I wanted wasn't in stock so ended up getting the next best thing which was 1318...

You are correct. The extra ingredient is optional. You don't have to use one.

I’ve been waiting for my entry to clear up (not having much luck though). Hopefully, I can get it mailed out this week.

December 9th. Originally considered December 2nd, but planets did not align for the judges.

    There are really nice gloves.

We ended up getting 5 entries out of the 8 BAs who asked for the address. Not too bad I suppose. Judging commences in about 15 hours. I'm definitely looking forward to tasting all of these beers after the judges are done. I'll try to remember to post an exciting in-progress pic from the table if the judges are amenable.

Good luck to the other 4! This is the second time any of my stuff will have ever been judged so I am more interested in what it thought by people outside of my coworkers/friends.

I haven't enter many comps or shared many beers, because I stopped bottling about 5 years ago. But I've always liked the Averagely Perfect threads (and most of my homebrew versions), and I always liked "beer recipe puzzles," so I figured I would participate. I bottled a twelve pack*, shared with my coworkers (they liked it), and sent two off to Vikeman. The keg kicked a few weeks ago. I saved the last bottle for judgment day, and just paired it with a bacon and eggs brunch. Not sure how it will be judged, of course, but I am comfortable saying that after 3 months, it still tastes like the beer I wanted to make.

*This also served as an excuse to dust off the the Northern Brewer Last Straw bottle filler that I bought nearly two years ago and never used. It was easy enough to use. I don't know how it compares to other bottle fillers, but I think I may be more encouraged toshare more
    homebrews via bottles or growlers.

Looks like no one can brew a beer with decent head retention . . . some pitiful looking lack-of-bubbles in that photo.

When making short pours, you don't necessarily generate the vigor to release carbonation. When I poured a full 12 oz into a glass earlier today, I got a decent head (for the style).
