Amen, the only folks who seem to make a real argument just want to stand or sit and line and drink at 2 or 5am. Ticketing is so superior to waiting in any ridiculous line.

Or! They want to guarantee they get a case? Why is this so difficult to comprehend? Getting a ticket is "so superior" when you get lucky and hit F5 at exactly 12:30:01pm. Waiting in line is superior when you want to do the work.

Or just show up after the ticket times are done and grab a case of the left overs and a draft pour.

The doubling of production should certainly help. And it's really not hard to get a ticket online, I'm 3/3. The complaining is entertaining though.

Yep, I’ve yet to miss out on a ticket. It’s not that difficult. It’s easier to hit F5 at 12:30:01 than get up at 2am and stand in line for 7 hours to spend $100 on beer.

If you're a local, yes. I'm 2.5 hours away so maybe I get a leftover, maybe not. It's not a coincidence that more cases have been available last two releases as weather turns (not to mention driving 5 hrs thru snow on Sat).

When it was 1st come 1st serve usually 4 of us would go up. So that's 2 rooms at Econolodge, dinner at Kings Head, drinks at Mash Tun/Thirsty/Novare, bfast at 186/Hot Suppa, plus Bissell/Industrial Way etc, maybe lunch at Little Tap House/Bingas. Conservatively $200 each x 4 of us pumping into local economy (not counting Bissell/Industrial which we still do). Now it's straight up and back with stop at Bissell, DnD on the way. And only 2 of us since others either didn't win lottery or can't be pressing F5 1000x at exactly 12:30:01pm. Driving by Econolodge on Sat, there were about 8 cars on MBC side of pkg lot at 10am--that was always full previously.

Ive had success both ways. Less time and money pumping into local economy now but I'd prefer old way (while realizing MBC had to change it).

but this is by your choice. You stopped booking hotels and binge drinking around town the night before. You can still do that. What bizarre reasoning. Not to mention this is N=1. I highly, highly doubt Maine Beer Co is negatively impacting the local tourist economy with their ticketing system. If anything it probably helps because drunk neckbeards sitting out in the cold has a certain opportunity cost, but the truth is who cares one way or the other. I never drove up to wait in line all night because lol that, but this weekend I did a similar trip to your old line waiting days, without waiting in a damn line.

    To each their own.

I have had zero issue getting a ticket personally (tried and got on 2 of the ticketed releases, didn't try on other/others).

I prefer the ease of arriving, getting quickly and going on my way. Allows me to make a nice day of it. Hang around and shop in Freeport with the wife, head back and get one on tap in the afternoon, then head into Portland for the day/eve. Tons of possibilities.

The "bizarre reasoning" (lol) is that one previously had to get in line ~5am so leaving from Boston that is 2:30am--easier to make an overnight trip of it. Now it is simply leave at 7:30am.

How are you not guaranteed a case with the ticketing system?

If you place no value on your time, waiting line is better. If you do place a value on your time, the ticketing system wins every day and twice on Sunday.

when you think about it they're bringing more "unique" customers. Plenty of people making a trip of it and flying from the west coast for these beers (knowing they're already guaranteed their case). And these people are all spending money, likely a lot more than the neckbeards.. food for thought

He was saying that you don't necessarily need a ticket with the lottery--just show up at noon to get the leftover cases not picked up during allotted times. I responded that that doesn't guarantee you a case so can be a long drive to come up empty.

Yes, of course. I have no qualms with this method. A Boston friend who could never do an overnight d/t family etc won the lottery and can now make the trip and back--good for him and all the other people who haven't previously had the chance. And I am trying, too, to get it to more unique customers, as I'm sending 8 of my 12 bottles in gift packages:slight_smile:

Trust me, Maine took enough of my income tax(7.5%) money over the years working for my old IT firm. They are fine not getting yours

Anybody know how the new building is going? Are they opening soon? Is it already open?
I can't really find any info online. Are they moving the taproom to the new building when finished? Just curious.....

The current brew space will become the new taproom. Offices will replace the current taproom.
