I hung back and did not congregate in the groups. There were lots of tables with no one standing at them. Socialized with the people I was with slowly moving down the line and peaking/arching my neck. Sounds longer than it took, only a few extra seconds, but it seems to have worked this time.

They've really only guaranteed variants the past two years, but I hope you're right, since the first year they guaranteed variants I don't think vintages were forced on anyone. Wishful thinking though...no way to know until they're bottled and they announce like the week of...it's a long wait!

 

Remind me of how this worked, don't they tear off your ticket after you pick-up your bag? If they took his ticket at that station he should be stuck with that bag, if they didn't take the ticket I would have left f everyone was yelling at me and just run to the back of the line, put a hat on and tried again.

Maybe we'll see a random assortment of this 2017's BA DLs, including Vanilla since they might not have sold out due to not being able to choose.

The only positive to the chance of getting 2x vintage regular instead of a variant was the chaos in this thread. That really shouldn't be a thing again.

Hopefully they cleaned out most of their stockpile because I don't have much faith in them never doing it again.

 

I have a feeling they will be doing vintages again. Even the first year that everyone was guaranteed a variant (2016), there was still not enough of variants from that year's selection to go around for all attendees and they ended up 'cleaning out' some of their variants from 2015. Last year they didn't have enough variants for everyone so they dipped into regular vintages. For DLD 18, if there were a lot of unclaimed bottles at '17 event, I can see Three Floyds again adding vintages to randomized tote bags. I'm just hoping that some of those vintages will be the unclaimed variants from the '17 event.

You're probably right, though I wish they would do something more customer friendly like create a $130 ticket that doesn't include a variant so people know what they're getting when they buy it, or god forbid sell fewer tickets.

Don't think it will ever happen though. Would be great to have a little more space in the shade or out from the rain. What a warzone that turns into when all is said and done!

 

Great, now we're talking about last year's vintage bottles and my anger over both my wife and I getting stuck with vintage bottles last year is coming back to the surface like it just happened yesterday.

I used this strategy as well and picked a table with no vintages on it

 

They tore my ticket on entry, the tables in front of the volunteers were all empty and they had bags behind them, you walked up to the table the volunteer punched your tag, turned around a grabbed a bag. I was so sad when I saw black and red wax mixed with the green. That was the beginning of B group. fucking dark lord...

 

Speaking of bags, I was way past half in the bag when I stumbled in there. I don’t remember picking anything. I thought they punch your ticket, they turned around and grabbed a random bag from the table of many bags, and handed it to you? I don’t recall being able to pick any bags. I was very happy to get Chemtrailmix.

To be perfectly honest, if you drink two top shelf 40s very rapidly, and then eat an entire bag of stay puff marshamallows by yourself, you’ve basically re-created the experience.
