Anyone else get big notes of anise or black liquorice from Double Moonage? It's the only beer that uses Galaxy hops that I taste it.

Haven't opened a Double Moonage yet, but the can of The Glow I'm drinking right now is a solid Pale Ale, if not amazing. Moonage is next!

    From Facebook:

"Holy smokes! Look at these sweet Vastness of Space 42cL imperial stout Sensorik glasses! They are available to purchase in house for $13!
Speaking of that, nows the perfect time to announce a surprise dual bottle release next Tuesday, December 19. Dark beer fans rejoice, we will be selling 22oz bottles of Imperial Coffee and Cigarettes as well as 500mL bottles of Bourbon Barrel Vastness of Space imperial stout.
BBVoS has been aged in Breckinridge Bourbon barrels for 18 months. $20 per bottle, 4 per person.
Imperial Coffee and Cigs clocks in at about 11% and is loaded with over 4 lbs of Sightglass Coffee per barrel. $12 a bottle, 12 per person!"

I'm more interested in the IC&C but I'm down with the BBAVoS.

Just bought a glass because that is an epic glass. Kinda glad I have to work Tuesday because otherwise I would drag myself downtown and stand in what I imagine will be an insane line.

Same here. When I saw the post, I checked my calendar to see whether I could work out of our SF office. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have too much going on to adjust my schedule.

Nice, I might drive down from NorCal for this release. 5 hours each way haha, I think it will be worth it!

I guess you can call it that, I think of SF as the Bay Area. I live in true NorCal, Humboldt County.

I hit up Cellarmaker yesterday and had some Turok Juice. That stuff was fire!!! I would be happy to drink that on the regular...maybe alternate between Pulp and Destination Unknown.

Yeah that Turok Juice was the best Cellarmaker I've had in a while.

I think I can recognize the flavor you are referring to. I must say, this beer had gotten better with each can. Should've gotten more!

Yeah other people say that Galaxy has a basil note. When I had a can of DM on Friday, I got more basil, but I could see why it could also licorice/anise-y.

Stopped by on Friday evening since I had an engagement in SF. Out of all cans sadly, but they had a ton of Vastness of Space glasses, and they were all indeed epic. So I had to get a pair, because what an epic glass.

I tried the Double Mad Nibs Imperial cocoa & vanilla stout. I like it better than the original. I find it more balanced and it oddly didn’t give me a headache like the original. I also brought my growler with me and was planning on getting a fill...but it was $38, WTF?!?!? So I passed on that.

Picked up 1 bottle each of IC&C and BBAVoS. But line was so slow due to bottle handling, that I didn't have time to get a taste of it in the taproom.

Anyone try the batches released yesterday and could compare to previous?

(I did get to try Staff Slam, and it had that yeast bite that I hate. First time getting it in a Cellarmaker beer. ASB staff were there yesterday too. <conspiracytheory>COINCIDENCE?!</conspiracytheory>)

Picked up a couple of bottles of each yesterday, and also snagged a vastness glass. I didn't try BBAVoS, but I did get 5oz tasters of IC&C, Staff Slam, and Turok Juice. IC&C was just as good as the last batch I tried. It has just the right amount of coffee I want in porters and stouts.

Turok Juice was outstanding, super soft and stone fruit forward. One of the best NEIPAs I've had from them. I hope they can that in the future. I enjoyed Staff Slam, didn't get any of that hop burn that you mentioned. To be fair, I kept jumping between my three tasters, so maybe that prevented me from experiencing it? I've only noticed that hop burn with really fresh Trillium and Alvarado Street beers, and it usually goes away if I sit on the cans for two to three weeks.

The other person I was with also got the unpleasant burn from Staff Slam (but he liked it during the Monk's Kettle dinner, go figure).

But yes, Turok Juice is amazing. I'm gonna grab another pint of it if it's still there tomorrow.

Turok Juice is sadly sold out. Sipping on Staff Slam and I see the Alvarado Street comparisons in terms of flavor but I’m not getting any offputting burn. BBVOS is delicious. Lots of vanilla and coconut, I’d believe you if you told me there were adjuncts in it and I didn’t know better. Mouthfeel is a little on the light side. Btw there is literally nobody at Cellarmaker right now. Never in my life seen it this quiet except for perhaps late 2013!
